Hi Steemians,

I'm a few days old on this platform and the most important lesson i've learnt is that My upvote power's value is limited. i noticed that sometimes if i upvote a post, i see a value added to the post's rewards and sometimes no value is added at all. I thought if i upvote as many posts as possible, it would be a huge plus for me, but alas, this is not so. Below is an excerpt from the FAQ section that many of us read earlier and overlooked:

Voting and Curating
What is my voting power?
Voting power is like an "energy bar" in a computer game that goes down a little bit every time you vote. You start out with 100% voting power. Every time you vote, you will use a small amount of your voting power.
As you use more of your voting power, your votes will carry less influence. A vote with 50% voting power left will be worth 1/2 as much as a vote cast with 100% voting power. Not to worry, the network recharges your voting power by 20% every day.

How many times can I vote without depleting my voting power?
Every 100% vote you cast will use 2% of your remaining voting power. Your voting power will recharge by 20% each day. You can vote more than 10 times per day, but each vote will be worth less, and it will take longer to reach full voting power again.

The correct way to upvote (I think) is to ensure you use not more than 10 upvotes per day ON votes that you think would be popular. This is to ensure that those ten votes get real figures added to the post's reward. My reasons are as follows:

  1. Targeting posts you think would be popular: is so that you can get huge profit when they are popular and earning high.
  2. Using 10 upvotes per day: Since each upvote uses 2% of your total voting power, it means after 10 upvotes, you would have depleted 20% of your voting power. Then, since the platform recharges your voting power by 20% daily, you start the next day with 100% voting power, giving you the potential of a max gain from upvoting a post.

Hope i've helped someone understand steemit better today...

Regards,
Elpadjo.
