I asked whale to stop upvoting me and got 9 new followers :)

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

As I told you two days ago, it's not all about money, it is about respect.

Did anyone wonder how my post from two days ago ended very high on the trending list with the reward of only 6$?
I didn't care for this reward, I was on trending! I didn't know that rewards on comments are important for trending page! The whole sum of rewards on all comments on my posts was more than 80$! And in this time, it means a kingdom on Steemit! So, I will use this opportunity to say THANK YOU, @ABIT for being a whale who reads posts and comments! And if someone missed my post and wants to read it, check here!

My dream wasn't about great rewards, but about being listed on trending page - was!

But something else happened and now, I can't be more happy than I am! I accomplished to get 9 new followers that day! No reward could replace that!

SPRING IS COMING AND I DON'T WANT STAY A DRY AND NAKED WINTER TREE!

Why I reacted on that way?

When @ned started to upvote me constantly, I started to care less about quality of my posts. Why should I care about the quality if I will be upvoted anyway? I didn't even noticed that I became bad and less creative than before. Few days ago, I scrolled down my blog and I saw that I had much more interesting posts few months ago. If I tried to avoid @ned's upvote (somehow), I could grow as a blogger in many other different directions and who knows where I would be now! So, I asked @ned (I mean, I asked a person who uses @ned's key for upvoting) to stop upvoting me, because I want to fight for an upvote again! I want to be exited about comments again, and I want to be surprised again on Steemit!

If you know that you will be rewarded, and if you know approximately how large your reward will be, things become much less interesting. It is much more fun to get a 50$ reward only once in 9-10 days, than 10$ each day. I didn't want that Steemit loses all magic.

AND SPRING IS THE TIME OF MAGIC!

Plans for my Steemit future

I will not change a lot my style and I will not start to write about some things that are not in my interests. But I will improve my writing. I posted a lot photos and explanations about them. But I ignored many important details. I didn't write all important information that I know about something. I considered that as unnecessary. Well, that has to change. Now, if I could to write some of my posts again, they would be twice bigger than they were. And much more interesting with much more comments on them. I realized that comments are much more important than rewards, the feedback from your followers is much more important than an upvote of a whale who doesn't read the posts.

THAT'S WHY I WANT TO FLOWER, TO BE RICHER WITH MY WORDS AND IF YOU APPRECIATE MY OPINION, I COULD DESERVE YOUR UPVOTE.

And some important Steemit players started to write much worse than before!

I already said a lot of names two days ago and I will not keep my mouth shut, but has anyone noticed how even @gavvet started to write much shorter posts than before??? The guy is really good writer, but I enjoyed more reading his older posts than newer. I have nothing against him but I remember is Rock Star series and other interesting posts. Today, he writes much shorter posts with less information. Is it possible that @gavvet and many others started to post just to post something? I'm asking because that happened with me! Well, I can't compare myself with @gavvet, he is much much much more important here than I am, but I am also an user for a very long time. I don't want @gavvet to get offended, he has given me a lot of upvotes, and I am actually sure that he reads posts from time to time. But I noticed that a good post is not what a good post was! Is it because of Steemit, or something about attracting new users, I don't know. It seems that nobody notices while whales are too busy by flagging good authors. But I have to stay honest, so I will appreciate each upvote on my posts more because THOSE UPVOTES HAVE TO BE HONEST ALSO!

Sort:

I prefer to write stuff now that a general user can look at and be able to say... I could write something like that... and hopefully does.

When we have a lot more users I will get back into the heavier writing.

Overly intellectual writing on a social media platform of this size without functioning communities may appear intimidating to the diverse user base one hopes to encourage to a young social media platform.

ps. (Rockstar was a featured series from @awgbibb, he still does some updates)

Thank you for reply, I know that but it can't change the fact that before you were one of top 3 authors for me.

Stick around... I ain't going anywhere... and times and trends will change.

Communities will make a huge difference...

When competing interests are no longer jammed like sardines into the same tin... Then we can grow audiences for certain pools of thought.

With a known audience its simpler to write to that audience and one can write more focused content.

Of course I'll stick around. Looking forward to see that

Most people do not have time to read or invest much time in posts with all the content created every second. If you want to get info out, I feel like you have to do it in short posts that capture peoples interest. A quick post and a link to more detail if the reader wants to continue. We may not like it, but just think about sound bites that get you interested. I mostly post photos and I feel like they speak on their own. If anyone has more questions I answer them in the comment section.
