There's A New Mac CPU Miner In Town, Honey! (Pun Intended)

in #steemit6 years ago

Despite everything you've learned about cryptocurrencies, it seems that mining is not dead. Yet.

Yes, it might be way less profitable than it used to be (oh, the times where you could mine 1 BTC / day on your Mac), it may be a bit intrusive and annoying if you're aiming to do something else on the machine you're mining with, but anyway, it's there and it's available, if you want to play with it.

The latest player in this field is called HoneyMiner (like, really). The company, which was launched last year, just released its Mac version of the desktop miner. You can mine with GPU, CPU, or a combination of both. HoneyMiner will take a commission of all your earnings and there is a withdrawal fee.

The gain estimation for my MacBook pro 2014 machine is a whopping $0.04/day, in Monero (I forgot to tell that you can mine a variety of tokens, like Ethereum, or Monero). You also get a nice 1,000 satoshis bonus, just because you signed up.

As you may expect, there is also a referral program, but I will let you discover its benefits and see if it works for you.

I didn't have time to test it extensively, but it does seem to put some strain on my machine, so I may not use it, but your mileage may vary.

Just the mere taught that you can play with crypto that easily is somehow entertaining.

Disclaimer: links in this article are referral links, so it means that if you sign up using them, I would get a commission.

Is the best option I found so far (and I try so much...)

@dragosroua,
I also tried few minings with my PC and failed eventually! Then installed a mining rig, but then prices were dropped! Anyway this might be a good news for the people who are still love to mine! For me now it's something belongs to past!

Cheers~

It is good news to have a new mining program for the Mac, but the extremely small profitability plus the withdrawal cost due to fees makes it very impractical even for learning and educational purposes.

This sounds cool, but what could my core i5 4gigRam do for me :(?

No idea, you should try and see.

I tried the mining ones on internet but the sastoshi I was getting was d
really low compared to the time I invested in it
