Steemit: some thoughts, make that a rant!
One of the things that has been bothering me a little about this platform is the absence of well-reasoned, push-back on social media and on online forums by knowldgeable insiders/devs to the prevailing narrative that Steemit is essentially a ponzi platform designed to drive disproportionate value to the founders and early adopters/miners.
Most folks, even those who are inclined to counter this narrative seem to be hedging themselves. This absence of real, passionate push-back is harmful as it a) further deepens the sense that the prevailing narrative is correct, and b) it drives the wrong kind of folks on here - the types who wanna quickly post some shit or kiss steemit's arse to make a quick dime before shit falls apart.
Yes, quality will assert itself over time, and haters will of course hate, but that doesn't mean that one lets a damaging narrative go on and on without setting the facts right. We haven't seen any of that, with the insiders keeping their heads down, while a lot of the highlighted issues (curation rewards/post quality etc) appear to remain unaddressed.
Those in the community who have a good sense of the larger vision and buy into it, would you please pull your fingers out, and stop being so damagingly coy?
