"Emergence of Network Science" - Networks Natural order is there will be super nodes. Does this apply to steemit?
These are just some thoughts I have inspired from a documentary I watched a few years back.
The documentary analyzes networks. First delving into the concept of 6 degrees of separation, then using the data collected from the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon to analyzed the natural order of networks. Then exploring the larger data set that is the internet. The conclusion is:
The natural order of a decentralized network is that it is going to have nodes that are super connected. These nodes will then be able dominate and influence the network.
The internet was initially set up as a decentralized network, where anyone could create a website and produce content. Gradually it has become what it is today with a super nodes Google, Facebook, Amazon, Youtube dominating the network.
An opened ended question: Will this happen to steemit?
Bitcoin itself is also network but it has been concentrated to a few who are able to significantly influence the network. I envision this could happen to steemit community, but if it is the natural order of things, then maybe we need to put our faith in the current influence's and founders (@dan @ned @dantheman) so that they can lead steemit in the right direction? Is there a way to stop this form occurring? Is the conclusion of the documentary incorrect?
If we were to leave it to the influences, we know money can influence them as well (not necessarily a bad thing if transparent):

Just some musing and thoughts open to discussion.
DISCLAIMER: It has been quite sometime since I watched the documentary. There maybe have been some key points that I have missed in it. Will give it a re-watch later tonight, when I get the time.
