What constitutes a "Quality Post"? I see this bandied around a lot, it's certainly a concept I aspire to but what is it, or more importantly what is the metric for defining a quality post? All of the posts under the Hot and Trending feeds have reasonably good financial values attached to them so that tells me that said posts are drawing votes and resteems, is that because it's a quality post or because people are hoping that by association the success of that post will rub off on them?

I openly admit I've done a few posts with two or three lines of text, I've mainly done it because I felt the message was of value, did not require any bloat and was more effective being succinct. I've tried writing 500-word essays with little or no reward while watching a rainbow coloured unicorn with steem bellowing out its bum gain upvote after upvote while my beautiful creation floundered in the $0.39 mark. Now maybe my offerings are rubbish, maybe nobody is interested in the stuff I post? but there comes a time when you think "You know what, I'm gonna post an animated gif of a singing potato and get me some instant gratification."

I don't have a huge problem with some of the dross I've seen on Steemit, I'm sure those authors will get bored soon. My biggest gripe is with the almost aggressive commenters demanding that you follow them or telling you that they've upvoted you so you now must upvote them. And lets not even go down the road of what we call on mailing lists "Thread Hijackers" these low life's place their self-serving messages on your post like some sort of cuckoo in the nest.

When I upvote I upvote 100% I upvote things that interest me or, sometimes, things that make me smile. Because I vote 100% I don't vote a lot so hopefully, any recipient of my vote will understand I for one think their work is quality. :-)
