Awesome post. There were 2 on your list of witnesses that I didn't have, but I added them to my vote list. Thanks for putting this out there so people can understand the importance of witnesses. Without witnesses Steem would not function and too many people take that for granted. The whole witness program needs revamped to make it profitable for more of the witnesses to run their servers since the platform is growing and the need for more witnesses will increase as well, but with how it is set up right now, I do not think there will be enough new witnesses that will want to start up.
Yeah, its totally true, why would you pay to host a network so other people can make money off of it? No one is doing that, you must, at least, cover your cost. If you can do that and you are a hobby witness then great. That is what I was thinking of doing, I use the network and if I could have supported it by running a node then I would have. There is no way in hell I am going to spend 6- 700 per month propping up a broken system.
