(A Steem Powered World) Why Steem-powered projects are the future of Social Media.. the attention economy is real and you deserve a portion of it.
1. A Steem-Powered-World where any and every social media network can be monetized.
Did you know Steemit.com is just a project built on top of the Steem blockchain? The very same blockchain can be used to host content from other websites such as Zappl (a Twitter competitor) or SteemVid (a Steem video platform), ChainBB (Steem Forums), SteepShot (Instagram), and even further, the content of Steemit.com can easily be hidden on these new sites, making the Steem blockchain the thing that is powering multiple, completely separate social networks. Is that not insane? We not only have a platform that can monetize blogging, but the entire social sphere... whoa.
2. YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vk, Dribble and every single other platform can be re-envisioned & 'immutified'.
To add to the intrinsic value of Steem powered products, let me introduce your to my friendly immutability; and/or 'freedom from censorship'. (Yes I know down-votes exist..) Which means these platforms will instantly be superior to their counterparts from day #1 in many more ways than simply paying users. They will also provide a layer of immutability to all users, which in some parts of the world is enough to be a killer app these days. Sad as it is Steem could provide many countries a way to use Social Media like the rest of the world without the government intervening. Achem China....
Not to mention people such as Edward Snowden himself will be touting these platforms one day, as they are the ideal form of transparent and censorship proof communication on the internet, in my opinion.
3. And you will automatically have accounts on all of them!
Due to the fact that all of these can run off the same blockchain, everyone will already have the same handle, account and balance of Steem/Steem Power & SBD on all of the above accounts, which is so much cooler than a stupid Google+ account with access to everything else run by a private company.
This is a great feature in my opinion because who likes signing up for new social media websites anyways? You can effectively have one profile, or many depending upon your preferences of usage and that is yet another upside to Steemit powered websites!
4. Did I mention they will all run off the same currency as well? Only like 5 times?
When I say "they will all run off the Steem blockchain" what I am saying is you will be earning Steem, Steem Power & Steem Backed Dollars on these platforms, which will all be held in a single balance on your account, that is unless you decide to make separate accounts obviously.
So keep an eye out folks, these projects are already being developed and some will launch within months, while others have yet to be thought up. Only time will tell how this all plays out but its exciting nonetheless.
The world is changing before our eyes folks, exciting times ahead!

Don't forget to follow and re-steem!
This is why all of our focus should be on accumulation of steem and steem power. There is so much going on under the surface for steem, that its only a matter of time before 1 or 2 of those things really takes off, and ... the rest will be history.
Great insights on possible synergetic effects of the Steem Blockchain. I think we will see some big changes to the social media sector in the next couple of years, and I'm hoping to be a part of it through Steemit. Keep up the good work!
Many projects are already being worked on, its just a matter of time before they start to focus on marketing and growth... you are on the right track!

Don't you think that Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter are also looking in this direction? And if yes, then what they would do? I guess they all could be disrupted by steemit and other similar projects. Or they might try to acquire it first. Would you agree?
Another distinct possibility... however can you really acquire a distributed service? There isn't any centralized entity to acquire.
They can definitely acquire a company/owner of steemit.com. Here is profile of this company: https://angel.co/steemit .
The software that is steemit.com is open source, and the steem blockchain does not require steemit.inc to function. So I don't see how acquiring steemit inc would do anything. A different steemit, still running on the steem blockchain could spring up the second the first one was bought.
One thing that could happen is someone could purchase steemit.com (or any of these other products) and try to monetize it in different ways. They could turn on post reward beneficiaries to collect a portion of the daily rewards, use ads, or even restructure the site to focus people onto specific topics that might be related to whatever other businesses they're invested in. I'd also assume that buying steemit (the company) would also grant them control over the huge amount of steem that they have.
However, you're right about the blockchain and the open source software - they wouldn't be buying it to own those.
Also if steemit.com reaches some scale (let say 100 million users), and then is acquired by Facebook, then even though one can try to replicate steemit on steem blockchain, but because of network effects it would be difficult to compete with original steemit.com (acquired by Facebook)
