STEEMIT's Name has Meaning... it Exposes Other Social Networks for the Steaming Piles They Really Are...

It may seem the world has gone crazy lately, and it has, to be fair. It's been ridiculous for a long time, but only in the last 20-25 years has the internet allowed us to communicate, learn, and share as never before. While this has changed much, it has also simply EXPOSED much of the madness around us.

Some of the players deeply involved in the madness are technological players, large companies and social phenomenons. Unfortunately, it's not always about empowering people to communicate, learn, share, and grow. It's not even just about the money.

Power, control, censorship, tyranny, and propaganda are words that come to mind off-hand. Does anyone think FB and the NSA are synonyms? If we have free speech, why is quality, non-offending, factual content routinely blocked, banned, and deleted from the almighty FB? Why would they allow blatantly evil, hurtful, misleading information to proliferate while eliminating much of what does not agree with their own agenda or views? Is this really social sharing... or is it curated propaganda designed to accomplish certain wide objectives on the population? One could easily write a novel on the problems and abuses of social medial today.

Finally, here at Steemit, I see the opportunity to interact with people, and not feel like I'm doing so on the criminal government's supervised playground. I have the opportunity to create and earn value that is not simply tied to the now nearly useless dinosaur referred to as the U.S. Dollar. I'll take mine in a more versatile STEEM any day, thanks!

So, I'm happy to jump on board the Steem-Train, and join all the other forward thinking, freedom loving freaks as we leave the old world order behind in it's steaming mess... and be at least some small part of forging our new tomorrow.
