The Struggle to Be Noticed

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

On Steemit I have seen many users who are new to the platform instantly become discouraged by the amount of attention their content is receiving. My advice to these users is that you need to be patient. Seeking validation for your work from others can be a slippery slope and lead from discouragement, to depression, to just giving up. You need to do your best to avoid this progression.

As a beginner you need to focus on the quality of your content and be proud of your contribution. Create content that you are passionate about and put effort into it in such a way that it is clear you care about what you create. Some content on Steemit is very simplistic and one dimensional, as if the creator is throwing shit at a wall hoping it'll stick, and because of that you have an opportunity to stand out. Learn from others and differentiate yourself. If you do those two simple things you will be better off.

In the time you have between creating content, read others posts, comment only if you can provide quality feedback or initiate a conversation that gets others involved.

Don't simply post just to post. Put time and effort into your thoughts and you will be better for it.

I give all my UP VOTE power on Sundays to new comers for your above reasons. They are our future as we are the future of those ahead of us.

Like any good thing, it takes time and work. Great post, it can be discouraging, but even a few pennies is more than one makes on Facebook. Great post. Keep up the good work.

Exactly. I think initially new Steemit users see the monetized incentive to simply post, but I believe once they discover it is more sustainable and fulfilling to create quality content, the overall content on Steemit will drastically improve.

I agree 100%, but there will always be those new people just trying to figure it out. I'm only 13 days old on here and I'm just now starting to come into my own. It takes time and effort, you are right there.
