A quick guide to "Steemit"

This post is designed for the purpose of educating Minnows (New fish in the Steemit waters), Noobs (New people in the Steemit community), and the lost, frustrated, confused or bewildered Steemers who might just need a little help or guidance?
I will try to make it as simple to follow as I can.

Here are the basics to Steemit

1. Steemit is a Social Networking Platform that rewards it's users for posting, voting and commenting.
2. Everyone who joins steemit gets a wallet to store their "rewards" or "earnings".
3. In your wallet you have three available items.

• STEEM
• STEEM DOLLAR (SBD)
• STEEM POWER (SP)

STEEM = "Steem" is the token or coin that was created for trading and investing in on the cryptocurrency markets. It is basically the building bricks for "Steem dollars", "Steem Power" and "Steemit" itself.
You can purchase Steem and convert it into Steem power or Steem dollars.

STEEM DOLLAR = "Steem dollar" is the primary currency used in the "Stermit" plarform. It is a way of sending and receiving value between people within the steemit community (other users/members) it has no real world dollar value but can be converted into Steem and then it will have a monetary value.
Note: The "Steem dollar" has been given an agreed value to always be equal to $1 US dollar ( 1 for 1)

STEEM POWER = "Steem power" is basically a long term investment within the "Steemit" money structure that guarantees you a 1 for 1 swap from "Steem power" into "Steem" if and when you decide to power down.
"Powering down" means to cash out your "Steem Power". But please note that this can take up to 2 years of weekly payouts to be completely processed, so make sure you really want to power down before you do it.!

1. Ways you can earn on "Steemit"

• Creating Posts
• Up-voting Posts
• Commenting on Posts
  (In other words participating! Don't be lazy people)

Creating Posts: Means you have to create and upload posts that will be interesting enough to catch people's attention and therefore they will up-vote and re-steem your posts which earns you "Steem Dollars".

Up-voting Posts: is the easiest and most rewarding way to earn on "Steemit". By Up-voting posts that you enjoy or believe will be popular for readers, you not only reward the person who created the post, you will also receive a percentage of the SBD made from that post if it does well. Up-voting is easy to do and if you vote for great content everybody wins.!

Commenting on Posts: is another easy and under estimated way that you can earn "SP" on "Steemit". If you put in a little effort and time to leave a constructive comment, it could reward you in many different ways. The comment will be appreciated by the post creater and they may take the time to read your posts?. Other readers may read your comment and see that you are a person of substance and might have a look at your posts? Also it pay's to be nice in the long run, your reputation is important. ☺

The 3 key ways to succeed on "Steemit"

1. Create posts that you would be iterested reading yourself if you found them, because if you don't like your posts why would others.
   Also take the time to get them right. Spell check, format and use pictures to grab attention.

2. Allocate time to read other people's post and show appreciation by Up-voting and Re-steeming if you think it's a post other people would enjoy.

3. Leave as many positive and constructive comments on the posts you like, make sure your comments are related to the posts content.
   Try not to leave negative comments because they will hurt your reputation on "Steemit"

Other helpful tips!

• Try to post in the peak periods to allow your posts greater chance of being seen and appreciated by others. Between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM (GMT) is optimal.
• Try not to beg for followers or votes. If you gain followers because they like your content then they are more likely to up-vote your posts.!
• Don't expect to be a success over night, it takes time to learn the "Steemit" platform and to build a loyal following.
• Try to enjoy yourself and don't treat it like a job. You can earn money on "Steemit" yes, but don't make that your only focus.
• Try to find your niche or forte i.e. if you can specialize in just a few topics you may have a chance at greater success.
• Don't get disappointed if you get no up-votes! There is a lot of posts being uploaded all the time and sometimes they won't be noticed. I have spent hours on posts and not even received 1 vote.! It happens, but if you keep posting quality content then eventually you will be noticed. And if not then don't despair because nothing ventured nothing gained 😉.

For me the best thing about "Steemit" is that it gives me a platform to express myself and speak my mind, and for that reason alone we are all winners here on "Steemit" 🕺💃🤸🎉🎈🎊🤹
