how to maintain balance and WFH during this COVID outbreak!

This pandemic has encouraged more people to stay at home and work remotely. Companies are implementing voluntary or compulsory work from home policies for many employees for alternate days or even full-time. This sudden change in lifestyle has disrupted our otherwise balanced work life.

This can be a blessing in disguise if you follow these 6 hacks and make working from home a success.

Without further ado, let's dive in and look at these pro-tips!

1. DRESS LIKE YOU ARE AT WORK

No matter how tempting it is to sit down in your pyjamas or sweatpants, it is extremely important to dress professional and sit down to work.

The days when I ignored this tip, I found myself slow and less productive. Give it a try and fins the difference yourself.

Dress for Success!!

2. Assign a Workspace for yourself

Working at home remotely can sometimes make the boundary between your work and personal life blurry. Assigning a workspace, yourself in your home can make that boundary clear again.

This space doesn't necessarily have to be a separate room. You can find any corner of your home where you are comfortable and start your work every day from that very place.

You can even decorate that space!

3. Maintain Regular Hours

You get your best work done when you stick to a routine and have a clear working hour. It is quite easy to lose track of time while working at home. Don't work non-stop.

Distance yourself from work when you are past your scheduled working hour time. Recharge yourself and start fresh tomorrow.

A work-life balance is extremely important!

4. Get started early

When you are working at home, the switch between your bed to your workspace can take up a lot of time and drain your motivation. To help you wear off your morning sluggishness, it is advisable to start your day early and dive into your to-do list as soon as you wake up.

Pour in your steaming morning coffee and put your shoulder to the wheel!

5. Use a Project Management App

If jotting down your to-do-list is not working for you, it is great to use a project management app. It is even more beneficially when you are WFH and not physically present with your boss and co-workers.

Use any of the Project Management apps like Trello, Asana, Ripley, Basecamp, etc. and break your project into various tasks. You can even assign tasks to your co-workers and keep track of the progress.

Sounds fun, right?

6. Schedule Breaks

Make sure you take a 15-min break in between your work time to relax and clear off your mind.

During this break, avoid watching videos or other clips. Instead, step outside and take a walk or simply spend time with people who might be in the house.

7. Don't forget to Socialize

Since, working at home can be pretty lonely and you may feel cut off from the happenings in the office. Make it point to video chat with your colleagues using applications like Skype, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, etc.

Stay connected and check in with your team mates!
