Fact File on HIV and AIDS
My school was invited for a program of HIV and AIDS, of which the head teacher appointed me to represent the school. The program held yesterday being 23th October, 2018 @ Kini Hotel Akwanga, Nasarawa state. While, i learnt alot from that program and is going to be my pleasure as am going to share it with colleagues here on steemit. As i have earlier said the program is all about HIV and AIDS. So, am going to give some fact file on HIV and ACIDS, and please read the message till end because is going to help you, your family, friends and so on.
FACT FILE ON HIV AND AIDS.
What is HIV?
(1) The meaning of HIV is Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus.
Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus destroys the immune system of the body. This makes makes the person very weak and therefore cannot resist attack from different kind of diseases.
(2)What is the full meaning of AIDS?
The full meaning of AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. If a person is infected with HIV virus, the immune system of the body is destroyed. This exposes the individual to AIDS. When a person's blood is tested for AIDS at this stage ,the blood test gives a positive result.
(3) What are the signs of HIV ?
*Infected people may not know they are HIV positive until a blood test is done.
*HIV positive persons can live a healthy life for many years, until the symptoms of AIDS start to show on them
(4) what are the symptoms of AIDS?
- Loss of weight
*Fever lasting more than one month
*Swollen glands
*Sores all over the body, mouth and throat
*Diarrhoea, whic last longer than one month.
*Cough -lasting longer than one month.
*Tiredness which cannot be associated with any stress.
*Itchy rashes on the skin.
(5) How does AIDS spread?
AIDS can be spread in any of the following ways: - Casual sexual intercourse.
- An infected mother can pass HIV to her unborn baby.
- Transfusion of infected blood to someone who in not infected.
- Using unsterilised knives and other instruments for circumcision or cutting the skin for tribal marks.
- Using unsterilised injection, needles, and syringes on people who are not infected.
- Using hair clippers that may have contacted the blood of an infected person in cutting the hair of uninfected person,thereby making ther blood mix.
(6) AIDS cannotbe spread by :
. Hugging an infected person.
. Sitting next to an infected person or holding hands with him.
. Using thesame toilet with an infected person.
. Sharing food or utensils.
. Bathing together.
. Coughing or sneezing .
. Insect bites.
. Living with someone who is infected. (However, ensure your blood do not mix.)
(7) What do we do to stop AIDS spreading? - Be sexually disciplined. That is,do not have sex any how.
- Infected mothers should seek counsel before getting pregnant. The unborn child must be prevented from being infected.
- Blood should be properly examined for HIV before it is given to sick people.
- Circumcision and cutting the skin for tribal marks should be done using new or sterilised instruments each time.
- Ensure the use of sterile injection, needles preferably disposable needles in injecting patients.
- If possible, individuals should take their hair clippers to the barber.
(8) How do we care for AIDS victims? - Give them good food and victims regularly.
- Family members should encourage the patients with necessary activities.
- AID victims should be shown love and kindness. This will help them psychologically.
(9) Last but not the list, i have question for other researchers who has gone round searching for information about HIV and AIDS. Is there any known cure for AIDS?
