blab Steemit Community 💡 New High Quality Content Community (let's discuss)

in #steemit7 years ago

Hi all, this is the first post and an announcement of a new content community here on Steemit. We call ourselves blabbers because we think we are hipsters (not really).

Why?

It's hard to have an access to quality content here on Steemit. Also, it's hard to reach out to more Steemians as a minnow. You need to know and do some basic/advanced tricks & things to do these. That's how Steemit works. It's a major disadvantage for those who are new on Steemit. To overcome this problem, you have about 3 or 4 options you can choose.

1- Grinding for a long time and joining communities to raise your profile's visibility.

2- Investing in STEEM, STEEM Power etc.

3- Creating your own community and grinding together.

We have decided to take the third option here.

Who are we? Let's start with that first:

Me, writer of this post, (@bojacktenenbaum) I've worked as a content manager, social media manager, chief editor, community manager, content writer and journalist over the past 10 years in one of the major magazines, internet startups and ad agencies in Turkey in both Turkish and English.

But for the past 2 years, I've been working as a mobile growth expert and localization specialist for app developers all around the world. I'm working as a freelancer since I started my business and I'm enjoying my job. I get to be my own boss :) But then, two months ago, I've discovered Steemit (@paredros mentioned it).

I've both succeeded as content manager, editor etc. and failed. I cheered for my success and learned from my mistakes but never stopped dreaming about earning money without having a client or an employer. Well, I just had to wait for couple of years to make my dream come true :)

And now, I'm here. On Steemit. I know it is really hard to get rewarded here on Steemit as a minnow. I did my research about what to do and how to do it. I just started with my own personal account. But lately, I've been thinking about how to create a content studio-ish community account here on Steemit. I've talked with a lot of friends, associate and colleagues about this and they all thought that this is a really good idea. And we already have lots of community accounts on Steemit aswell. Successful ones and failed ones. We can learn from them.

I'll talk more about my friends who are also associated with the blab community account later. But for this post,

Hear us out and let's discuss :)

Some basic rules which we haven't finalized yet.

  • Apply to us and let's create our own Steemit content community
  • Whatever you write about it, keep writing about it in your own account. But if you want to become a blabber, you must send at least one content every week

blab content community rules (not finalized yet)

1- You can create your own content in your account but (depending on the blabber number) you must send 1 or 2 good quality content every week (haven't decided about how will we measure the quality but it'll be basic stuff like no plagiarism, at least 400 words etc.)

a) Also once we set the mod team, we'll have discord meetings every week to select the subjects we want to address with our content community account.

2- Half of the SBD rewards of the content you wrote for blab account will be transferred to your personal Steemit account. (Half of the Author SBD Reward)

3- Rest of the Author SBD Reward will be used to buy STEEM to Power Up the blab account's STEEM Power.

4- All blabber created blab content will be upvoted by the blab account.

5- Every day, blab account will upvote one content of each blabber. Eg. If we have 20 people blab will upvote 20 content every day.

a) We will have a schedule for upvoting community member's(blabbers) accounts (contents) when we will have a good amount of blabbers.

6- Every blab content will be upvoted by the community member's accounts. (You will earn curation rewards)

7- Community member's new posts in their own accounts will be upvoted by the community members as well.

Next couple rules are really important and we need to discuss them.

8- To quickly boost the blab account, we thought it would be a good idea to delegate some amount of SP to the blab. I know we won't have enough SP for 1-2 months to delegate but in order to grow the account fast, and earn faster, we need to think about it. Because we need an investment source.

9- Also, you can always cancel your delegations if you don't want to do it anymore and blab account can't do anything about it. You can cancel your SP delegations anytime! (It will be canceled immediately but it will take 7 days to return the SP's to your personal account due to Steem blockchain infrastructure.)

10- Or we can just set monthly subscription fee in SBD for every blabber. And turn that SBD to STEEM to Power Up the account.

As I said, we need to discuss :) And if you are interested, we want your opinion too.

11- Steem Wallets are public. You can see the transaction history. The amount of STEEM and STEEM Power will be both used for upvoting community member contents and growing the community. And you can track it all.

12- If you want to become a blabber, you need to follow the rules. If you don't upvote or share a content, you won't get an upvote from the account or the community. If you copy your content from somewhere else, you are out. We want everyone to trust each other and grow together. Abusing the community will have consequences.

As I said, these are the basic rules but not finalized ones. We want to discuss this more with you.

blab is not an original idea, there are lots of community accounts here on Steemit. But we can see the idea works. Until we create our own SubSteemits here on Steemit, we should focus creating our own communities to have a stronger voice. Everyone can start their own community and perhaps they should.

Last clarifications

  • blab account will be controlled by two people.
  • Once you are a blabber, you will send the content to the mod/editor team and they will review it.
  • You can track the transaction history on blab's Steem Wallet
  • Me or other founders won't get SBD rewards over your content on blab account (only curation rewards like other members). We will only Power Up the account's STEEM Power.

If you want to discuss the blab community account, by all means. Let's discuss. That's what we want :)

Now there are 6 people already who became blabbers. We are waiting a couple more to get approved on Steemit. And yes we are all new accounts here. So we won't have any STEEM Power to upvote yet. But once we have it, (we are hoping in 2-3 months) we will start earning good amounts.

About the concept of the blab account

As I said, we want to address multiple topics, subjects or issues. We could go with a more niche approach here but first, we need to create the best we can while touching every topic. Later, we can compartmentalize if needed. Like, if there is an event during that week, we want to create content about it. So whether you are a blogger or scientist or artist or both or all, if your content is good, come on in. We will have meetings and topic suggestion discussions on Discord. Be a part of a community, grow with a community.

Apply now

We will review your application and contact you.

Once we set it all up, we will choose moderation and curation team members as well.

Oh and obviously you can join more than one communities. If you want to be a part of other communities, please do! Anything for growing your account while creating awesome content! :)

I was listening High Hopes while writing this. And it sounds accurate:

Together We Stand, Divided We Fall.

Have a wonderful Steemy day.
