Back on Steemit [Story of losing my Password]

 

Hello ladies and gentleman

This is my first post after 7 months and the reason for this was the crash of my hard drive. In this Blog I want to tell you about my journey to get my password back.

It was 7 months ago as my Hard drive decided to have enough of life and started to not work. It was a shock for me. I was not the type of guy who makes backups regularly. My last backup was like 2 years ago. I know this characteristic of mine was plain stupid and don't worry I  am a different person now. Back to my story: I tried to find out the problem by my own, however I failed at it and after a week I tried to call the ghost busters for help, the hard drive recovery service guys. I talked to them and they said, that it is going to cost about 400 Euros. I asked my bank account and he said with a load voice ;:

No Way !

 That's why I had to wait couple months to earn the extra 400 Euros bedside my regular spending. I am only a University student so it was not possible for me to get the money faster. However in my Hard drive was also my game development projects and many other projects I was working on in my free time or for the university. So I decided to spend the 400 Euros and I made a contract with the recovery crew and they started to work on my case. After couple weeks I got a call and they said to me that they could recover my HDD. At that point I just was happy to have my data back. While searching through my data  suddenly I realized that a complete folder of mine was missing. I contacted the Recovery crew and they told me that it is possible, that  some file are missing. It was exactly the Folder with  the Steemit password in it. 

It was really unfortunate and besides that is was my exams season so had not much time for pursuing the problem. After months I decided to makes new account and start over. However the luck knocked on my door: One day a friend of mine brought me a external hard drive to me and said that it was mine. I totally forgot about that one. I borrowed   it to him and we both totally forgot about it.

The hero I needed but did not deserve:

You guys probably know the end of the story now but I want to tell it anyway. I searched through the hard drive and boom a document called “New Document3” and it was it. My password was in this document. 

In conclusion, always have your password in a secure place like and offline drive or very traditionally on a paper somewhere safe. This way you can avoid stupid scenarios and probably save a lot of money. I am going to do so for sure!
