Reminder: Success Won't Be Handed To You. 3 Tips for Making Success Your Bitch

Improvement doesn't really show itself like you think it does. More or less, the line of improvement has its dips, leading you to sub-paths of discovery and failure.

Don't worry! It's all a part of the plan.

If you have been spending more time on bettering yourself, whether it's getting yourself to the gym or committing to reading more books, then you might have noticed that things usually don't go as expected.

1. There's a reason they say "expect the unexpected"

Think back to your childhood. Was there ever a time that you ran into a roadblock or an "unsolvable" problem? How did you react in that situation? Did you continue to persist or did you end up quitting? If you persisted, then your self-control will reward you well into your adult life.

Self-control has been shown to correlate highly with life success,
even after controlling for other factors, such as intelligence and
socioeconomic status.

2. Don't let boredom derail you!

I know that watching YouTube (or DTube) videos on your phone seems so much more interesting than driving yourself to the gym or picking up a book, but don't fall into the hands of destructive temptation!

Many of the tasks that contribute most to the development of valuable skills are, unfortunately, commonly experienced as tedious and unpleasant.

3. If you fail, try, try again.

No matter what types of failures you run into from this point forward, whether it's hitting a plateau at the gym or having a difficult time understanding a new concept, promise me that you'll keep trying. This is the #1 rule to improvement and neglecting to follow it will leave you high and dry, once again. Remind yourself why you are working towards your goal and keep pushing that envelope.

In the comments below, tell me about a time where you faced adversity, but stuck to your guns and managed to succeed in the end.

Looking forward to hearing your responses.
