Why Steemit now has NSFW posts...When did we turn to a porn site
I have been a member of Steemit for a long time and remember the days of Introduceyourself and the skimpy dressed fake profiles itching for Upvotes. Many frowned upon this and shook their heads at the attempt to use sex to sell on our site. When did we just accept this and start offering posts with hardcore porn. Yes they are protected by the NSFW symbol, but they are still not locked down enough that if a child gets their parents phone and happens to open one, what they will see might be too much.
What happened to us Steemit
Why are we stooping to this level. Porn can be found on sites dedicated to those who need a release. Dont get me wrong everyone watches porn, but not here. If you are in that bad of need go to one of these sites below...
Pornhub
Xvideos
There are soo many more.
We are better than this
Thanks for listening
I feel you, this place has changed so much.
I agree with you hundred percent there's no place for porn on our platform I have noticed more more people trying to post pictures . I will ask you this question what can I do to stop it? @mannyfig1956
Well its hard really. Beside downvoting the posts, but then the people posting them will downvote your posts. Its a double edge sword really. Not sure what we can do really. Thanks for your post.
I see it posted but I don't see it rewarded.
When people work out that the blockchain is public and forever, they might reconsider upvoting porn.
Just as @mattclarke has already stated, I don't see it rewarded. In part I think its due to the public nature of the blockchain, but also I think its because original content is still valued highly amongst steemit users, and a lot of these porn posters are just reposting crap from the internet.
When they discover that they aren't making money from it like they thought they would, they will eventually give up and leave (i hope).
But that's what's the beauty of Steemit. Unlike other social media, it does not censor. That's what's the beauty of it and which will allow it to grow.
On the other hand, we as a community can decide whether we want such kind of posts or not. In this case, if you do not like NSFW posts, you can simply ignore it and thus when users realize that such posts are not accepted and not rewarded, it will slowly fade out of existence.
I talk about Steemit in my post : https://steemit.com/steemit/@stanthesteemer/why-steemit-is-the-future-of-social-media
