Posts disappearing into the distance ...

in #steemit7 years ago

The volume of posts is increasing faster than I can keep pace, disappearing before I realise they are there. Apart from the  use of the 'trending' or 'hot' posts, does anyone else think you should be able to tag favourite authors and/or topics so that a customised view can be developed?

It is a shame to miss the good posts, without being on 24 x 7!

What I wish is that I could make multiple 'home' feeds, so I could separate them into flavors. Using Tags is okay, but I have followed over 400 people. Even my 'home feed is going by faster than I can keep up with it. It would also help to have a separate 'resteem' feed. Sometimes a few of my followed get a little happy with the resteem button.

yep - the issue of enhancement seems a little low on the priority for steemit. I have tried to call out even tagging @dan and @dantheman for some guidance but no luck!

I have wondered about the scalability for a while. As it stands the 'new' feed is like trying to shove the contents of a firehose through a soda straw. Tags and the 'home' feed are the only tools I find useful to mitigate the flood.

love the analogy - perhaps a paper soda straw, which means it is even more fragile!

Soon it will be like shoving the ocean through a cocktail straw.

There is no hope. It will only become more saturated. With those posts savvy enough to use a whaleshare getting themselves to the trending page or the hot list and then running. I have come across many posts, this one included, that I think are highly relevant and top of mind but it seems they don't run as good and then die down after the first few hours. This post I made 3 days ago is one that I am most proud of and I imagine if it made it to the trending page it would do very well, but it got no love lol.

The Sexiest Steemit Post You Will Ever Read

Thanks - will check out your link for more love!

Yes, this thing is really worrisome. Even I felt that the lifetime of posts is very short. Once you miss it then it's tough to get on it. There must be some features using which we can keep track of the posts easily. It will be very useful for us members.

I agree - whilst the blockchain maintains the integrity of steemit, it doesn't help the user experience!

Yes, something needs to be done regarding this. I saw something related to it yesterday. Looks like @jesta is creating a platform to address this particular problem. He has created a bulletin board where posts will come up based upon last comment.

Cool - thanks - will look at it - perhaps that becomes a better interface to this place

Yes, even I haven't tried chainBB, that's what they have named it, but will be trying it out today. I will share my findings of that platform. If it's really cool then we can use it because ultimately it is using STEEM blockchain.

great - look forward to hearing how it goes

Don't get lost in the white noise!

Just have sift through it! :)

I totally agree, and all the good quality content that deserve upvotes just get drowned in there.

I hope there's really a customized view.

Hopefully, it will evolve

I have seen a number that fade too soon. I'm struggling even as I post quality content. I need to learn all the bells and whistles. Resteemed and followed.

Thanks! Followed

Welcome... Your follow is much appreciated.

I feel the same way. I post things and i put some thought and personal things into them and I feel like people would enjoy the post but worry that they get passed up quite often. none of my post have been viewed very many times and I feel that it is a shame. And to go deeper If my own posts get passed over what content of others am I missing. followed and voted

yeah - that was the second part of my thinking - unless posts are picked up in the first few hours or so, or they if they are tagged with an obscure tag, they generally disappear from further discussion. Thanks!

I was thinking about creating a post and putting a few of us into it via comments then when a good post comes out we can alert each other by posting in the comment section about a good post. it would then show up in replys section .... something like that

i reckon give it a go

I will but i have to wait a day i am at the end of my bandwidth

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. As the Steemit community grows, these sorts of issues will continue to arise. Nothing that can't be handled by evolving the platform as relevant though :)

i hope so - must be a better way, which by extension can make it a better experience and attract and retain users.

Thanks for your blog and really love the photo
