#Steemit-Austria Bookchallenge - Day 2 / Sylvia Plath- The Belle Jar [EN/DE]

in #steemit-austria6 years ago (edited)

Zeig mir, was du liest und ich weiß, wer du bist/Show me what you read and I know who you are!

“Perhaps someday I'll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of my sorrow.” - Sylvia Plath

Sylvia Plath Speaks My Troubled Mind! Beauty Out Of Sorrow!

The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful, but slowly going under — maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther’s breakdown with such intensity that Esther’s insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic.

Quite some time ago I accepted a beautiful bookchallenge on facebook and of course I liked such interesting idea., curious to see what books my friends read.
So for seven days, I will post my favourite books, no review, no judgement, just the cover, just a short celebration. With each post I am going to nominate another person, to do the same.
If you get challenged: Post the cover of a book that you love. Do it seven times in a row. Use this hashtag: #bookchallenge and #steemit-austria each time nominate someone who belongs to the Austrian or german speaking community.

Let's enjoy good books.

Yours
Mammasitta

I'm not so sure my library will say much about who I am (or maybe it does) because I have quite a large collection of books but I just don't seem to get around to actually reading any of them. I will use some for reference, but even that is becoming scarce because it is so much easier to search for stuff on the Internet. So what would my collection say about me? That I am interested in a wide variety of topics and that I can't throw anything out?

Maybe you just like the smell of the paper and some magic vibrations from the printed text you will and could never find on the internet!???!? 🙄😁😉
I would say you are collecting anything and hold on to a lot of other things in your home. Maybe you never let go of anything you value....I am sure you are a loyal person for any of your true friends

Yes, that sounds a lot like me. The problem is that almost everything has some value. Just yesterday, I took 2 old office chairs (one had broken mechanism and the other had worn upholstery) and made one good chair out of the two chairs. Most people would have thrown both chairs away.

I would say that I am quite loyal to people.

Show me what you read and I know who you are!

I used to peruse the bookshelf's of people I met when I went back to their houses for first time, based entirely on this principle.

( I didn't know of the saying - it was my own idea to find insight into people..

...It rarely let me down...

I do the same:) unfortunately I couldn’t take all my books I read around the world. I don’t have a lot now but thankful for the online options. Yesterday a friend told me that an old lady died and I could take as many of her books as I wish! I will be in heaven to choose to fill my shelves again here inVienna

I have one...yes...ONE... book in my entire house now...bloody hell what has the world come to...?

Gosh! So true 😭

Book were my world into everything...I miss having racks of books, I really do ...reading off a screen is not the same experience...
soulless is the way I see the difference...

Nothing can replace a real book in my hands 😉

Except for when you replace it with another book!

You got that right...I started collecting again

Great idea, I think with your help, many people are seriously interested in books. In our country they read very little now, young people are not at all adapted to this.

That is such a beautifull thought, I couldnt agree more. I also think - working as a early childhood pedagogue - books are soo much more than books. They are symbols, paradimgs - and when looking at my own favorite books - they are childhood memories. Children love hearing stories, developing fantasies, and many times they are connected to books, to actual paper.

You challenged OUR “INNER CHILD“ Thank You Wolfgang! 🌺

You are so right! I realized that very few people read books in Indonesia and our Rotarian club had to organize a library for a couple of schools. It’s sad because we can learn so much from books! I hope that I also can motivate others to participate in this challenge. You are more than welcome to introduce your favourite books as well!

You wrote that you need to speak German and Austrian. I am afraid that the books that I like were not published in these languages and most likely I did not read yours. Although if I look

It’s up to you how you create your article.

Woow, sooo schönes Zitat am Anfang! Das bist auch einfach Du :) Schön. Das werde ich bei mir auch noch einfügen. Überhaupt könnte man in den Kommentaren die bücher immer diskutieren.

Awesome! I love book challenges, all over the world. :) hope people find out some new titles to read.

Cheers!

So exciting to see what books our Steemians read

Hey there Mammasitta! I actually can't remember the last time I actually read a book! So I don't think I'm much for contribution here. However I have listened to the Audio book of Ekhart Tolle's Power of Now. That was life changing and inspiring. I've got to go soak up some of that Bali sun for you now. Have a great day! -Dan

The Power of Now also changed me quite a lot and approved that we need to focus on the presence more than the past or the future. It would be great if you would write about it.

Hi Silvie, i hope you are well ;)

Grazie tanto! All good 🙌

if you see a man with rare intellect you should ask him a book he reads. Book is cool, there is always a lot to learn from It. I will like to read a book written by an author from your locality.

I would love to read 2 books from your area as well.....👌

Posted using Partiko iOS

I hope you participate as well even without a nomination 🙏

Posted using Partiko iOS

...maybe...😉I was thinking of this too (even without a nomination;-))
But first I have to choose out books and there are many books out which were good🌞👍

Go go go girl! Let’s get those Steemians moving and showing us who they are

Posted using Partiko iOS

Will be glad to share them, I think there might just be 7 of them

You are welcome to post at least one book! This would be wonderful to see what’s your favourite one
