I joined Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic gym as An Instructor

All these periods I have been running around for the collection of my appointment letter from the Rector of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, I was also praying to see a nearby gym or fitness group that is close to me which I can join, or I will try to start up mine. As soon as I got to the entrance of the polytechnic, my eyes went straight to a flex banner of a gym inside the polytechnic. Well, I told myself that I will try to find out who owns it and how it is ruined and if I can be allowed to join. But that will be after I am officially employed.

So this week Tuesday, I officially began work at the polytechnic and I went round to locate the gym. I was told to go to the sports department in the school. As soon as I got there, I saw the gym hall and in also saw the HOD of the department.

I introduced myself to him as a staff and he asked me some questions which he was satisfied with the responses I gave. Then I told him of my intention to be part of the gym. I told of my being an instructor from where I came from and of the group I train. I also showed him some videos and pictures of my gym journey. He was impressed and he immediately introduced me to the head coach there and said that I will be joining them as instructor immediately.

However, they usually have more clients on the weekends and Monday. Yes, most people love to workout on weekends. And Monday is usually seat at home day in the city. I told him that I will not be in town on weekends and Mondays. But I suggested that they can start evening training since I will be available on weekdays . It sounded good to him, after all, most clients have been asking him if they have evening training but he had been turning them down. Yes, it is a gym that was recently added to the sports department and they hired an instructor from outside who is not a staff to train others.

Well, I was welcomed with an open arm. Wednesday was supposed to be when I was to start training there, but they are having football ⚽ ⚽ ⚽ tournament. Every department in that school, every school there and lecturers including past graduants. I joined them to officiate the match that Wednesday.

Then I was assisted to get an accomodation in the hospitality department there in the polytechnic to enable me go for fitness training my 7am on Thursday a d Friday. I really needed that accommodation and I am glad to have it at the platter of gold. I am yet to conclude arrangements as to whether I am to pay for it or not but I am using it already.

Thursday Training

On Thursday, I was able to go out by 7 am. I was there when the external instructor came and opened the gym. Other clients came in and the morning drill started. The external instructor was the one that took the class and I joined him.

After the general class, I joined the men to lift weights. I did barbel Deadlift, press up, arm flys and more before leaving the gym to get ready for the day.

Friday Training

I went by 7 am again and joined the general class. I also joined in training others and then went for weight lifting along with the men. This place is becoming more fun for me already.

In the general class, we did so many programs like the hip hop squat, the X factor, the air squat, the side crunch, the side squats and more. All we did in 2 sessions of 3 reps each.

From next week, we will likely start the evening session. Fingers crossed

The truth remains that one who is a fitness lover will always find fitness lovers everywhere he or she goes. I have found some friends already
