The Daniel's Royalty sport centre is a special sport centre for indoor and outdoor activities in the local community. This sport centre is a gym and not a stadium, embedded in a newly built hotel. It is designed and funded in such a beautiful way with equipment in check. How can such a beautiful and well-funded place be seen in a local area? How many people go to the gym, and what activities are carried out in this place?

It will surprise you to know that the polarity of this sports centre in this local community is top-notch. People do come from far and near to exercise here because if I'm to check the distance from where I live to where another gym is, it would take me 20 minutes to drive. This is to show that people go downtown to work out, except they have such equipment in their homes. Let me give a brief review of this place starting from its history.

Brief History: When was the gym, dojo, or stadium established? Who founded it? Any notable events or milestones?

De Daniel's Royalty Gym was founded at the inception of the hotel, built early 2024 and completed on the 26th of April, 2025. The gym sport centre was commissioned when a gym instructor came on board last month, being the 20th of May. The gym was effective from then, though it has been open for usage by those who lodge.

The commissioning of this gym centre accorded men and women, youths and children the opportunity to visit the gym for training sessions even though they aren't lodging in the hotel. It's allowed and accessible for both insiders and outsiders. Following its commissioning, gym equipment like the treadmill, barbells and the like were officially in use.

Founded by the owner of the hotel, Mr Daniel as the name implies, he has a manager in the person of Tariela Youdiowei who hired a fitness coach in the person of Coach Edidiong Baptist to do the training sessions every everyday. So in effect, he currently manages the sport centre, as he has the key to the place and runs both indoor and outdoor sport programmes every Saturday.

There are no notable events yet, as it's just a newly established gym centre, but for this to be established on Oron Rd with quality gym equipment and comfortability, it's a milestone that no one has been able to achieve in years. I'm not saying they are the only gym centre in my city. My city has different villages, streets, estates and routes. For an equipped gym centre to be seen in this area where I live, it's rare. This is the first and most popular.

Ownership and Management

As stated above, the person that owns this sports centre is the Mr Daniel I mentioned earlier but gives the lady to manage the entire sports centre, swimming area and the likes. Regardless of being the manager, she has sub-managers or workers, so to speak, that ensure the place runs smoothly. Their work is to manage the place and keep it operational on a 24-hour basis.

The leadership style here is more democratic, as the managers here enforce but don't lord over. She prides herself on being a leader with humility and love for the people under her. She ensures she leads by example. I can recall a scene where she had to show a worker how to clean off dirt from the window. This leadership skill was the best I saw in a long time. No manager would do this.

She has people who do inspections on a daily basis, but she does make time from her busy schedule to check activities done in the sports centre, provide suggestions and also check on the health and strength of her workers. Who wouldn't love to work under such a person?

Employment opportunities are open to members of the community, as most newly built hotels would employ only professionals and those with good educational backgrounds. The hotel accords the villagers a chance to learn in certain areas and work to support themselves financially.

Exterior and Entrance

The buildings are quite tall and structured in such a way that looks more like an apartment with different rooms, both self-contained and residential suites. The buildings are screed with white colour, which gives it an official name as the White House in Ifa Atai. The quality of materials used in the completion of the close-packed buildings are of high standards and durability. The entrance is in the centre of a guarded fence with barbed wire for security purposes.

The structure of the building

There's a roller gate at the entrance which is kept open 24 hours, while the barrier rope is used to grant access to vehicles entering the hotel. The entrance to the sports centre has a security post on the left-hand side with security personnel to checkmate visitors. The interior entrance of the gym is clean and accessible only when the gym instructor is around. Much work was put in place to make this sport centre a success.

The entrances to the outdoor sports centre and poolside are locked and can only be granted access when the gym instructor is available. There are signs at the top of each entrance and directions to guide visitors. Parking lots within the premises are kept in place to accommodate a maximum of 30 vehicles to show how spacious the place is. So if we have 30 sports trainees who drive to the sports centre, they can park their vehicles comfortably inside.

Outdoor Areas (if any)

Yes, they have a visible outdoor area and outdoor sitting area. If you look at the picture below, you'll notice that this is an open space, primarily for workout programmes on Saturdays, outside the gym. This place doesn't have tracks for jogging and running, but these can be done in this open space, as it's spacious enough. It's only on Saturdays they open this place for trainees to inhale nature's air and also carry out workout programmes like jogging, running and stretches in an open space.

You know the gym is limited to such activities, as the space and surface area won't be a good idea. So making an outdoor area for sport and other activities is worthwhile. One can learn football in this open space, even without being on a field. The place is damn beautiful, colourful and clean. It looks like an ancient building with expensive wall designs.

The outdoor sport centre

The floor is made rough to aid jogging and running. There's a sit-out for coaches in this outdoor area. I've not seen such an outdoor area for sport with a gym centre as well. It's rare. This is another milestone they've reached in drawing the attention of outsiders.

Interior Atmosphere

Most gym centres have poor ventilation, which brings about odour from people's sweaty faces and armpits, making it stuffy and uncomfortable for most people to endure. In this gym centre, there's sufficient lighting and air circulation in the form of 6 windows. These windows are available for natural air to flow in when the air conditioner is turned off.

Picture of their air conditioner

On a normal basis, the air conditioner is kept on a minimum speed to avoid increased breathing, attacks, and cold. Since the place is not as spacious as it should be, a maximum of 20 can be accommodated comfortably.

Take a look at the condition of the equipment. They are still new and shining. This equipment is kept in check and maintained to avoid rust or damage, as most of them work with electricity. All equipment in this gym area are vibrant, sound and good-looking. If I'm to list them, it would be:

  • The treadmill

  • Multi-station gym equipment

  • magnetic elliptical trainer

  • dumbbells

  • barbells

  • Yoga mats

  • mini steppers, etc.

All this equipment is in good condition and is made of high-quality materials, with no improvisations.

Service/Product Experience

They offer gym workout services and swimming programmes for cardio exercises, as well as fitness programmes like stretches, meditation, jogging and running in place in their outdoor area. All these services are offered there. On Mondays to Thursdays, the gym is mostly used for full chest, legs and muscle building, while on Fridays and Saturdays, the outdoor programmes are done, in which swimming is included. Training sessions aren't free on midweek days, but on weekends, training sessions are free.

pictures of their pool side and dressing rooms

The trainers were approachable and understanding. The coach himself is one kind of person who'd encourage you to go for what you want even when you feel you can't. He's a motivator and a soft-minded person who lowers himself to the standard of others. The environment is conducive, motivating and supporting.

Just look at the walls. Every corner you look at is a motivation, telling you to go harder and that the strength you'll get tomorrow is as a result of the pains you're going through now. I love the gym area and poolside.

Supporting Facilities

There are locker rooms on the poolside where one can change before swimming. There's also a bathroom and toilet for anyone who wants to use the convenience. These locker rooms are for both male and female visitors. Their restroom is as serene as a dinner hall.

Pictures of the toilets

One can eat comfortably in their toilet because there's an extractor fan that expels bad air, and regular checks are done to ensure cleanliness. Waste bins are kept in toilet areas to dispose of solid waste in the form of pads, etc. The place is so clean and perfect.

Programs and Services Offered

They have yoga programmes and fitness programmes every Saturday which are laid for. A membership fee of 15k per month is charged, and a training session of 1k daily is charged for daily workout programmes. Safety measures and guides are visible to avoid accidents both in the gym and pool. These safety measures are clearly stated on a banner.

They also run lightning based on their own transformer that supplies them 24/7 light. This is never seen in the history of my city, how a hotel would purchase their own transformer. They usually have big diesel generators to substitute for normal community light but this is the height. They really pulled strength. Special features like event centres for demonstrations of fitness programmes and other activities are a part of their building.

They don't really have a comfortable meditation centre, but the outdoor centre in the morning hours can be good for such a purpose. They don't have an outright clinic for the sick but have a bus that can serve the purpose of transporting the patient to the hospital in time.

Picture of me in the gym

This is one of the best sports centres in my area, and it's the closest to the people, both members of the local community and those who live in estates. This is an achievement no one has beaten in 10 years in my area. If you stay close to Oron Road, from Timber Market down to Airport Rd, and you're looking for a good gym centre, check out this business card above.
