Hi Friends,

Ok the time has come! I’ve been trying out a bunch of different coffee shops here in Krakow - and here are my thoughts on them!

I know @theaustrianguy has been anxiously awaiting this post!

I want to note that there are SO many really cool looking coffee shops within a short walking distance to the event - and so going can’t really go wrong. I’ve been very impressed with the coffee scene here in Krakow.

Also - to compare prices between shops, I ordered the exact same thing at each place. Might drink of choice is a doppio macchiato. (Two shots of espresso with a dollop of foam.

For A Quick Cup On the Go

Boulevard 11

This spot is located just steps behind the Qubus hotel, which makes it a convenient spot to grab a quick cup of Joe before or in between talks during the conference.

It had a bright and open feel, but I don’t think I would want to sit here for meeting someone. It felt almost a little too open, like everyone would be listening to your conversation.

My Doppio macchiato cost nine zloty , And the shots were decently good. They used a fairly light roast, that was pretty acidic testing - and I think I just prefer a darker, heavier roast. All in all though, I would start back for another cup of coffee if I wanted something quick to go.

Boulevard 11 is located on the walkway between the hotel and the Bernatek walking bridge.

The Best Tasting Espresso

Somnium Cafe Bar

The main thing this spot has going for it is the espresso. It is over a 10 minute walk from SteemFest, and so is probably the furthest one that I checked out. It also does not have a lot of room to sit and talk, so it may not be the best spot to meet someone. That being said, it was hands-down the best tasting espresso I have tried so far.

If you go across the walking bridge and keep going straight, you will eventually run into it. It had one of the most interesting interiors - but like I said, it was very tiny.

This was also the cheapest spot. My doppio macchiato was only 6.9 zlotty and the shots tasted fabulous. The foam has a dense texture and was blended perfectly with the espresso. Worth the little extra walk if you ask me.

The spot was beaming with creative energy. It seems like a good place to sit alone and work on something if you want to feel inspired. Perhaps I will go back there later today to work on some content before meeting people this evening.

The Most Adventureous Coffee Shop

Crico Organic Coffee

There is a really cool building behind the Qubus that I noticed had a sign pointing to coffee underground. The sign looked a little cheesy(see below) and it didn’t even look like there was a coffee shop down there - but I figured I had to check it out since it was literally behind the event.

So I walk down the stairs and there is definitely no coffee shop, but a lady sitting at s reception desk? I saw signs that said Cafe that pointed to a door. I kept following the signs up many flights of stairs until I finally arrived.

I surprised to see such a cool space. Through holes in a the metal exterior, you can overlook the river while lounging in a comfy chair.

There was even a rope swing chair!

Although it was definitely an interesting place - and actually felt cozy and while having lots of seating - I’m not a big fan.

It was much more expensive than the other shops (11 zloty) and my espresso tasted pretty bitter. It would still be a cool place to meet - but just be aware that there is much better espresso for a cheaper price just right across the bridge.

For Cozy, Intimate Conversation

Cafe Kladka

Spoiler alert, I saved the best for last. This place hit all the things I was looking for. Tasty, inexpensive espresso with a good vibe and close to the event. You literally can’t miss it if you walk across the footbridge. It will be one of the first spots you will see.

This spot is a coffee shop by day and a bar by night. Every time I pass it in the evenings, it is full of people laughing, talking and having a good time. During the day I’ve seen a mix of people meeting up with friends to share espresso - or people sitting and reading/working to themselves.

This place is pretty lit and has lots of little nooks and cranny’s for people to sink into some good conversation.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found it helpful. Like I said in the beginning, I don’t think there are many bad choices here. Most of the coffee shops seem to be quite good - even if for different reasons.

Can’t wait to see you all soon and maybe share a cup of coffee!

Indeed this is what I was waiting for :)

Where shall we enjoy the coffee proudly sponsored by Eric‘s upvote? I would vote for Crico or Kladka, but I guess you are the expert ;)

Let’s do Kladka!! The espresso was better there! :)

Excited to meet you soon!

Yay!!! An espresso macchiato fan.

There are far too many people who are latte macchiato fans or cortado fans.

All I ever want is a brilliantly roasted espresso with a tight crema, topped with just enough foam to take the edge of the slight acidity that a good espresso has.

Solo is too small, doppio is just the right amount to savour all of the nuances that your little cup of joy can provide.

The only time I've "accessorized" my macchiato was at a roaster in Hawai'i who provided the perfect macchiato with a small glass of sparkling water on the side and three chocolate covered espresso beans to finish. (2365 Kalakaua Ave)

Thanks for the fantastic post! You sent me down memory lane.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this post and it took you down memory lane! It’s nice to meet another doppio macchiato fan! Reading your description totally made me smile, and I couldn’t agree with that more!

Wonderful post about coffee!
I like the picture you took in the mirror, and the other pictures (88) are cool too.

I’m glad you enjoyed this post!! It has been fun to explore all the different coffee shops.

Epic post! I’ll defo end up in one of these places tomorrow ✌🏾

Yay! I’m glad you found it helpful. See you sooooon!!

I would love this post if I was there. I prefer a reg cup of joe from Dunkin Donuts but when in a new area, it is tough finding good coffee. Or good to my taste anyway. Looks like you are having fun exploring. That coffee place way down and up stairs is an odd spot for a coffee house. Perhaps it’s a local hangout spot more so than tourist spot.

Enjoy your coffee experience!

Aww thanks @beeyou!! It has definitely been fun exploring coffee shops. Kraków actually has tons of really good ones. It’s awesome!

Wish you could be here with us! ♥️

Not a coffee drinker myself but there are a ton of em that I’ve noticed so far. That and book stores. Tons!!!!

Yes!! Soo moo many coffee shops in this town! Even if you don’t like coffee, they are still pretty cozy places to sit and work or meet up with someone. :-)

There are a ton. I remember being in Bruges 2 years ago. I was blown away with how many Chocolatiers there were. You’d walk and see one and then across the street. Boom. 3 doors down...another. Crazy!

Nice coffee shop review, the interior of those places are amazing, nothing like that where I am. That chair at Crico Organic was gorgeous. Hahahha who needs starbucks

Oh I know!! I wish I could take the chair home. :-)

Yeah, Starbucks has nothing on these cute coffee shops!

Save some Americano for me please. @coruscate.

Ok ok... I won’t drink ALL the coffee in Krakow before you get here. ;)

Without a doubt I like the style of the coffee shops that there are for Krakow seem very current I like the decoration.
Already many have come to Krakow for the stemfest

Yes, I’ve been so impressed with how cool and stylish the coffee shops are! There are literally too many awesome looking ones to count that are close to the event. I’m loving it. :-)

So it is also has the time to go to visit some more before the event, I hope you show us more of these cafes

It’s always a must exploring good coffee houses in Europe. Never had a dippio macchiato before 🤔 My go to is the trusty long black ☕️

You can’t go wrong with a black cup of coffee. :-) It is usually going to be more consistent than getting espresso anyway.
