Today's stars

Television breeds stars. So does the internet and other media, actually, but television lately makes the biggest impression on me, perhaps because of its absurdity and illogicality. The type of stars it produces.

Many decades ago, Fellini said that television is a wonderful and pioneering thing, but it is not being used in the right way. Well, what is the right way? For sure, I have also imagined until now that there must be some morality, something worthwhile and valuable here. But where are the valuable things nowadays? I seem to see them less and less or maybe it's because I'm getting older. But I grew up in a completely different time, in a different world. Back then, there were no "stars" like today, no children's books to explain to children what it was like to be gay, ugliness and "difference" was not put on a pedestal (for reference: look at a random fashion show of a top fashion brand and the creatures , who have been chosen to represent their clothes). I think that people have simply become afraid of beauty and normality, so they avoid them at all costs.

Television breeds stars. At the moment, reality shows are at their peak in Bulgaria. Somewhere I saw a meme that says how the ship is sinking, but the orchestra (the shows) continues to play, like a typical Bulgarian trait, ignoring everything around, the whole reality, creating another, false reality that doesn't even save, it distorts to an extreme degree life to complete unrecognizability.
I myself follow a show, the Bulgarian version of the Colombian show Desafío, and I follow it for moral, psychological and all kinds of reasons. Not that the plot is not completely invented and produced, not that everything happens in a natural way, and not that they also do not show how to succeed in life not with knowledge and skills, but with meanness, hypocrisy and lies, which is proudly called a "social game".
But in this show, a large part of the participants show physical data and skills that are not available in the participants of other such shows, in which such data and skills should also be required. In other shows, it comes out that in shows of endurance and physical strength and skill, it is necessary to have a combinatory and sneaky mind with which you can beat everyone, even become a champion.
But this is one in hand. The rest of the faces, the people who are produced as stars in these TV shows are…

I don't know how it is in your countries. Some time ago I told you about a famous vlogger who is currently writing book after book and was published by the largest and most influential publishing house in Bulgaria, right after he announced that he was gay.
This publishing house cannot be reached by "ordinary" writing people, because it publishes grotesque that would be read by many people, the scandal, the spectacle, you name it, the main thing that has occupied and entertained mankind for centuries. In this sense, publishing houses in Bulgaria also give birth to stars in the same way as television does.

So, if you look at a normal average show in BG, the first thing you will see there, because it makes a really big impression, are women with artificial breasts, lips and all kinds of other plastic interventions. In any case, these women have turned to investments in their appearance for a long time, because this is perhaps the easiest weapon with which to shoot men.
But should I tell you now about a "great" Bulgarian who made millions or billions by introducing this fashion and standard in Bulgarian society - created a kind of subcultural and low-quality music, subjected many women to plastic surgery and let them run wild on the stage, showing more tits than voice data. Some time ago I watched part of such a concert and was shocked by the young audience who screamed and swooned over a half-naked woman on stage singing vulgar songs accompanied by female dancers dancing in their underwear. (Oh yes, foreign men have a lot of fun with traditions in Bulgaria, I'm sure.)

Young people grow up in this environment, in this way of life, this culture, and often cannot get out of the trap. Every young girl wants to be Barbie in its Bulgarian version - a pop-folk singer, because they look great, have countless admirers, are successful among men and have a lot of money. They also necessarily marry rich men who provide them with even more money. And after all, life in the country is so sad that the average salary is 500 euros, therefore it is normal to dream of something better. And in the only available way, which is constantly shown and promoted on television - plastic surgery.
I am not the biggest puritan and conservative person, I have already considered many things, all pros and cons, and I have found for myself that plastic surgery brings with it and after it much more cons than pros. So, it's not my thing and that automatically excludes me from the traditional audience that would be impressed by today's manufactured stars of the day, what is being promoted and shown in the forefront of the country.

But let me go back to the beginning. Television breeds stars. If in the past being on TV was a big thing, a really wow thing, it's not like that anymore. And all kinds of people can be shown there, any that the television needs. They are in constant symbiosis, mutually beneficial coexistence. Television has become so boring that it needs all kinds of "watchable" people to be on its shows. Well if those people weren't there, who would be doing these shows?
Should we blame television for producing such "stars" in its efforts to make its shows watchable? It's just a link from the low-quality reality we live in.

Two days ago, I was amused by the news about NASA launching a probe to search for new life in space. People do continue to delude themselves, or impute, that perhaps this wretched and suffering population of earth, marching in a direction and constantly driven downward and towards decay, is the only living thing in our galaxy. How pitiful for our creator, how shameful for Him, if we are not just cosmic dregs sent here to suffer to be purified.
Forgive my pessimism again.

And yet, what are the stars in your countries, the famous and influential people, the influencers? Do they carry any positive messages, do they contribute something to the development of society, or on the contrary - inspire degradation and vulgarization?

steem.jpgSoul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|

I don't know how it is in your countries.

Every post of yours surprises me, because it always seems to me that you write about Ukraine. We have a similar situation with television. Reality shows were at the peak of their popularity and were watched by millions of people. The situation was forced to change with the beginning of the war. It was somehow unethical to show entertainment shows when thousands of people die, so reality shows with artificial breasts became a thing of the past for a while. Now they are partially returning to the screens, but I noticed that the role of television in general is greatly reduced. If you visit an average Ukrainian, at least one in three does not have a connected television at home (I mean TV channels in the classical sense). Most people have switched to viewing content directly from the Internet. And one more thing. It seems bloggers have more influence than television in Ukraine now.

It seems bloggers have more influence

A lot of influencers in BG are also modified people, turned into zombies in appearance (as I call them), and in fact, the word influencer is extremely twisted, because, what kind of influencer are you and what do you influence, if you just do some dance steps in front of a camera, for example. Yes, I must be getting old because I try to find meaning in everything, but there is simply no such thing.

it always seems to me that you write about Ukraine

As I have written before, it is normal for us to have so many similar things after we have shared a common past in some variations. Even, as it happened, you sometimes write about quite positive things in Ukraine, which I do not notice exist here. Some russophiles (and there are so many of them in Bulgaria) would say that the decadent culture we live in comes from the "rotten West". But I would say that this situation is simply an accumulated consequence of the sorry history we have had, of the thousands of things we have not understood and learned and our inability to accept change and make something meaningful and worthwhile out of it.

I noticed that too. In the U.S. there used to be great shows on networks on TV. All sorts of comedies, drama, detective, family, and now there isn't. There used to be a couple of hours long soap operas in the afternoon but now there is only one show each on two networks.

And in Bulgaria, apart from the stupid reality shows that put ignorance and vulgarity on a pedestal and make stupid and incompetent people famous, there has been a crisis with movies for years. Televisions buy only the lowest-quality Turkish and Indian series, so the low-intelligence population enjoys them. The rest are old American movies played over and over again, voiced in a nasty way, lest someone casually hear and learn a word of English.😂

Well, it won't be long but Bulgarians, being allies can buy software and make movies and TV shows fairly easily. When I was in eighth grade, middle school, we made a Star Trek movie in our class with 8mm. It's not that hard.

Need writers, jokes:

How many Bulgarians does it take to screw in a light bulb, a lot plugin and are L.E.D.?

The same as the amount of Americans.

🙋‍♂️ Hallo Soulsdetour

VgA🙂
