RE: Humane and inhumane
I'm looking forward to it. To see if your opinion would come close to mine. Or vice versa. And meanwhile recently I've been concerned with another question - does evil have any meaning at all in this messed up world? If someone is inherently evil and does bad things without realizing it, does that actually make them bad? Do people who are bad know that they are bad? And aren't these people morally excused and forgiven, spiritually and religiously even... this is how everything becomes meaningless in this world, all concepts lose their weight and place, once written in thick textbooks, now existing only there - in an empty theory... such confusing things 😀🤔
pt ii is out now, and pt iii close to its end.
But I decided to go on to your questions just here.
Strictly speaking, evil has no meaning in this “messed up world”. However, the question does imply meaning, because if the world could not be called “messed up”, then we would have no way of evaluating it on a scale of good and evil. To call a world “messed up”, to perceive it as such, implies that the good should be given more importance in this world. So the evil is that there is a lack of good. This does not give evil any meaning in itself.
Here, too, there is the primacy of good over evil, which is such that evil has no existence in itself. Nature produces nothing evil. It does not know true or false, beautiful or ugly, good or evil. However, it produces these ways of thinking in some people. They could be hallucinations, because nature also produces hallucinations, dreams, fantasies. If someone does evil things without realising it themselves in this way, then there must be someone else who classifies these things as evil. However, this someone must look at themselves and their own intentions and actions. It is not my job to judge someone else as evil, but if I am one of those who think about good and evil, then I am called upon to evaluate my own actions, and I come to the conclusion that a good deed without realisation or intention cannot make me good. So the perspective in the mirror is reversed.
He who does not know that he or she is evil is like a cat or a mouse, who also know nothing of good and evil. However, it is quite unlikely that there is anyone who has not at least approximately learnt to judge themselves. So I can repress the fact that I am evil, but I can't seriously claim to know nothing about it - just because I don't want to know anything about it. That's why I can't make spiritual or religious excuses. The religious or even non-religious forgiveness of my wickedness does not serve the purpose of undoing it, but of opening the way for me to live my life based on the drive and will to do good.
I think it's precisely the scale that's messed up, because, let's face it, we all know about those "very good people" who left this world so ridiculously early, while the "bad" people live long and prosper.
And I don't agree that everyone is aware of what they're doing and is aware of what's good and what's bad. If that were the case, if everyone had a conscience, the world would be a different place. From psychopaths, serial killers, politicians, to those who don't greet you back on the street - the vast majority of them don't realize that what they're doing is not good. If that were the case, wouldn't they be torn apart by a guilty conscience? How does a person live, realizing that their whole life revolves around bad deeds? Therefore, I don't think they realize it. And that's exactly what makes the game here and our participation in it even more complicated - for those who live with notions of good and evil, which notions are just illusions, personal illusions that have no value in the outside world.

It's always difficult to keep a discussion alive without trying to be right. Please allow me a third attempt.
A good pianist moves through a Beethoven sonata, for example, with seemingly somnambulistic confidence. But every keystroke is practised, carefully weighed against other fingerings, rehearsed in patient work with herself and the notes. An innate talent was necessary, not everyone can play at the same level. But nothing is improvised, everything is just as Beethoven wrote it down. Nobody can play a Beethoven sonata without having a concept, an idea of Beethoven sonatas. Automata can reproduce this without having the slightest knowledge. But automatons cannot "play well".
I think it is the same with good deeds. They can be imitated thoughtlessly, but they cannot be performed without conception..

Very easy to answer!
These people have learnt that their lives are easier if they do NOT weigh down their conscience. So they suppress their thoughts and talk themselves out of their actions. It's not witchcraft and it's not an art, we can all do it and we all do it.

Notions of good and evil are not illusions - nevertheless they cannot be proofed in a scientific way. That's why we are invited to distinguish between knowing, conjecturing, and believing. The possibility to freedom and to goodness is a strong personal believe (or not), but no illusion. (An illusion is something against facts. Freedom and Goodness are no facts.)

(sorry, a little bit misplaced yesterday)

No, not misplaced - just a trick of tired eyes...
