Liberalism Misconceptions
Last week I stopped watching the series that I had been following during the week. I wouldn't say that it was a favorite movie and I liked it that much. It was more of a habit, a daily routine, part of the daily schedule.
In the evening I sit down to watch the news, resting, then this movie comes on, I watch it, get ready for sleep and go to bed.
The task is to stay awake until at least 10 p.m. when the series ends, which is probably why I watched it.
And also, it wasn't the stupidest series I've ever watched. Not at all. Criminal, investigative, about military crimes, interesting endings in each episode, but of course, with fast-paced action that develops within an hour. Oh, no, it's 1 hour with the numerous commercial blocks. So, maybe it's 45 minutes, or even less. And these series, I admit now, give a person a completely wrong idea of how investigations develop, the work on a crime, the discovery of the perpetrator and his eventual capture.
In Bulgаria, it has recently been found out that an investigation, or the period from the knowledge of a crime or its perpetrator to its capture, is about 6 months or more. If, at all. I am even amazed every time they say on television that they have captured someone, because these people are known for not lifting a finger for anything. But anyway. This is another topic.
And the other, perhaps main reason for watching this series is that I haven't watched it before. I wouldn't say that they haven't shown it before. Because all the other series that are currently showing, on all television channels, are repeated. So it's very likely that this one was also shown at some point, even several times. And I probably wouldn't watch it again now either, but there's nothing to watch in the evening to keep me awake for a while before going to bed.
So, the series is entertaining, interesting, light, etc., it doesn't force you with instructive stories, etc. But there is one thing that forces itself into every series. From the first series, to probably the last one, which I have no way of finding out anymore, the background relationships revolve around the 'great love' between two, notice, beautiful women.
Oh, there are all kinds of characters in this movie. The beautiful, very capable female boss, divorced with two kids. Even her relationship with her ex-husband, who already has another wife and a baby - absolutely friendly, which is also a pretty unrealistic plot, pales in comparison to the first case I mentioned.
There is the handsome and good-natured married man with two children, the handsome bachelor, the quirky computer and technology specialist who manages to attract women in his own way, the lonely woman with spiritual inclinations who often mentions her numerous past relationships, etc.
They are all funny and enjoyable to watch, except for the intrusive love story with all the drooling, kissing, and intimacy.
Well, I was wondering if I could share all this with you in a world where liberalism and freedom "should" come first. But I also want to mention that this liberalism and this freedom are quite often misunderstood.
I also want to say that it's rare for a series to show so much kissing and intimacy between two heterosexual secondary characters who are in a relationship. In the last few episodes I've watched, I was constantly like: "Okay, how come they're not ashamed to show this?", "Okay, why are they showing this?"
I'm not talking about sex, naked bodies or anything like that, just intimacy between two beautiful women, but the type of soft porn that fits more into other shorter movies that you choose to watch on other platforms.
My partner is genuinely amused by me and my reactions. He says "they're perfect," over my grumbling, laughing because he's a man and it's funny to him, of course.
Then one day he said, "Why are you even watching this shit?"
"Well, because there's nothing else to watch", I said. But honestly, it hadn't occurred to me that I could just stop watching this instead of continuing to complain and resent the obscenity of a simple and 'innocent' series airing in prime time while people were eating dinner.
And now, I don't watch it anymore.
There is a lot to be said here. About the unrealistically presented couple - all of us, no matter how narrow-minded we may be, (and I include myself in this group in the first place), have seen even in real life, not only on television, couples of two women and we know what they look like. From people we have come into contact with in the past, we also know about the "great love" of such a couple. We also know about how everything should presumably be allowed to such a person. Everything. Well, that's another, even more personal topic. But liberalism, the misunderstood kind, allows some people to go out on the streets dressed like freaks, sexually assault random people just because they are allowed to, to force their sexuality on television, etc.
Well, there's a lot to say, but I'll stop here. So as not to further spoil the good impression I probably once made on you.😂

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|

I love coincidences... 😁
No, it's just that I always get up pretty early, and when I had my first thought ("Gosh, must I?!"), I honestly didn’t expect you to be doing the same - on a Sunday... 😎
@punicwax here, and I'm totally relating to your post, @soulsdetour! It's so true how easily we can fall into TV show routines, even when they start to grate on us. Your reflections on how crime series distort reality, combined with your observations on the "great love" trope, really hit home. It's refreshing to see someone question the constant push of certain narratives in mainstream media. Your writing is engaging and humorous, especially your partner's reaction. 😂 I also appreciate your honesty about the complexities of freedom and liberalism. Great food for thought! Have you found any shows that don't annoy you lately? I'm always looking for recommendations. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
