Choosing Happiness
In a small town that is always busy, there lives a man named Aiman. He is not rich, nor is he famous, but he has something more valuable—a heart that is always calm.
Every morning, Aiman wakes up with gratitude, brews his favorite coffee in his favorite cup, then sits on the porch of his simple house. From there, he sees small children running to school, traders opening their stalls, and birds chirping happily on tree branches.
However, on the other side of town, his friend, Fadli, lives a different life. Fadli has everything—a stable job, a big house, a luxury car—but his heart is always restless. He spends his days chasing more money, more success, but happiness feels so far away.
One day, Fadli visits Aiman. They sit together, sipping coffee that Aiman serves with sincerity.
"How can you look so calm, Aiman? While I, with everything I have, always feel like something is missing?" asked Fadli.
Aiman smiled. He pointed to the evening sky that was starting to turn orange. "Look at that sky, Fadli. Isn't it beautiful? We can choose to enjoy it, or we can be busy thinking about what we don't have."
Fadli fell silent. He realized something—that happiness is not about how much we have, but about how we see and appreciate our lives.
From that day on, Fadli began to change the way he saw the world. He still worked hard, but he learned to enjoy the little moments—laughing with his child, having a simple dinner with his wife, and enjoying a cup of coffee without rushing.
Finally, he understood one thing that had previously eluded him: happiness is not something to be pursued, but something to be chosen.
