Inhumanity is solid part of humanity from the beginning. Survival being the basic insticnt may stem the need to kill/hurt/mistreat or create violence depending on the context. Some kill in the capacity of defence mechanism, others to claim something, and some do it to satisfy hunger (as among animals). But when it comes to human, hunger could be of any thing. There sure are other reasons but I think we can generalize all in these three.
Religions may rein in some acts of inhumanity but they don't stop wars, do they?
I don't expect much from AI... it's the reflection of humans — with all their flaws. 🤔
It is logical to generalize them into these three, but it turns out that in some, even large groups of people, inhumanity manifests itself for no apparent reason; it is some kind of initial error in the code that cannot be changed with any genetic engineering. From time to time over the centuries, some psychopaths appear who try to re-populate the earth to get rid of the shortcomings of humans. Of course, this is impossible, so the creation of machines and artificial "intelligence" is some kind of extreme solution in my opinion in this direction, absolutely wrong, like every decision made by humans. Because AI will possess, yes, all the flaws of humans, but it will not possess their good, human qualities.
Yes, that's true. That's why I say: imagine if there were no religions, what would it be like 🤔
I get it but I still think all kind of inhumane behaviour can somehow be linked back to the basic three. It's possible that people think that they are misbehaving for fun or just because they can; the underlying reason could be totally something else such as fear of losing control or power which brings them back to survival mode.
I also think every generation has their own set of issues. I used to think life was better in 90s but what would I know about the world then, I was just a kid. Similary, my 8yo thinks life is good right now and I think opposite. He doesn't have that much exposure and experiences yet as I do. Having said that, I'm not denying the unwanted access to almost everything given by technology will be an ever increasing threat to every generation in the future. So yeah, things are getting out of control. We don't need gunfires or nuclear blasts to initiate wars anymore, we are fighting many other wars and heading towards chaos anyways.
Chaotic.
When I was a kid, I thought the world I lived in was a really crappy place. We had no money and almost nothing during communism. Then things seemed to get even worse, life became very dangerous, dangers of fraud and crime lurked everywhere. Then... things supposedly got better in some ways, but there's still no progress that I was hoping for, or that I was taught to look for and expect. On a micro and personal level, things move very, very slowly, because on a macro level they move just as slowly. And yes, I also think that every generation has its problems. I think my parents are happy with life right now, things have changed a lot for them. For my generation, things don't seem that way. Maybe I have to wait another twenty years to see (if I'm even alive)...
