KINGDOM PRINCIPLES FOR EFFECTIVE LIVING #2 – GET VISION
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. - Pro 29:17-19
“Principles” are fundamental truths which have universal applications. Divine principles are designed by God to help us live life effectively and with ease. When rightly applied, principles deliver same results irrespective of person and location. In this series, we are looking at time-tested principles for effective living. Embedded in scriptures are some principles for our profiting.
One of the principles for effective living is getting vision.
Vision could be said as a revealed future in the mind, or a mental picture of a desired future. Vision is necessary for the fulfillment of purpose and everyone who would emerge a success must be vision drive.
Our opening reading gives an outcome of the people who lack vision as “perishing”. Placing more emphasis on verse 18, the word “perish” in other translation means “to cast off restraint”, “to quit tangible existence”, “to run wild”. This means someone without a clear vision lacks direction. Such person gives in to any leading; and jumps into any opportunity that looks catchy and in most cases ended up nowhere.
Getting vision means getting a compass for the journey ahead. This is why God told Habakkuk to write down the vision in plain terms so that whoever can read will be able to run with it. To fulfill God’s purpose and to produce the desire result we need to have a vision of where he wants us to be, to do and have. Let us take a quick view of Habakkuk 2:2-3 and outline some succinct points to note about vision:
Hab 2:2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
- Vision comes from God. Thus, we should be able to different the Godly vision from the fleshy ambition.
- Vision must be written down in a readable form.
- Vision statement must be accessesible.
- Vision is anot a result, it must be acted upon. Scripture says " must be run with"
- If vision is not vissible (readable), no result will emerge.
- Vision has an appointed time.
- Thwe actualization of Vision may be delayed.
- Vision needs patience, endurance and waiting (Hebrews 12: 2)
- The waiting period for vision is not a sleeping time. It is time to renew strength (Isaiah 40: 31).
- If it is a vision, it will surely come to pass because God cannot fail.
How/Where Can we Find Vision
Vision is primarily found in the revealed will of God as written in the scripture. Don’t forget that vision is the direction God gives for a man to live out purpose.
If Jesus Christ had a vision and was determined to run with it (Hebrews 12:2) to a successful end, we have no excuse
Vision gives us a picture of the future which inspire us to endure the hurdles of the present. Vision is the key for purpose fulfillment and effective living
PRAYER: Lord, I pray that my eyes be open to the heavenly vision.
REFLECTION:Vision is the key for purpose fulfillment and effective living.
