Genesis 4:1-2a

Genesis 4

1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.”

“I have gotten a man from the Lord” said Eve... (Or literally) “I have gotten a man, even the Lord”... (imagine the wonder that LIFE was IN HER and IT CAME FROM HER for the first time… INCREDIBLE!!!!)... “I have aquired a man”

... This firstborn son… Cain (or “acquired,”)...

... It seems clear here that Eve believed that Cain was the Seed promised to her in Genesis 3:15 (The Promised One from the Lord)… (The Answer... Messiah… The Savior… A Defender… One who would at the least be on her side and battle the Enemy with her)...

2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel.

It wasn’t very long before Eve discovered (what every one of us who has kids) knows to be true: Kids are born with a sin nature…

... Cain ???... He wasn’t who she hoped he’d be... Eve probably had an idea that her 2nd son named Abel ???... That he wasn’t the Answer either…

(WHY DO I SAY THAT???)…Because Abel means “vanity” or “empty”... The problem with Cain and Abel ???... Is that they were born of the seed of fallen man…

… The promise of Genesis 3:15 wouldn’t be fulfilled until ???... One was born only of the seed of woman… (By way of THE HOLY SPIRIT)(and the chosen Virgin... Mary)...

… And that One born is Jesus Christ… (Our Savior, Defender, Advocate, Deliverer, Who was bruised by the enemies of God… For our SIN NATURE… But Who CRUSHED the HEAD of the ENEMY… In GREAT RESURRECTION POWER !!!...
