Daniel, man of prayer, an example to follow.
Hello to all that the mercy and blessings of God powerfully reach them all the days of their lives.
In chapter 9 of Daniel we find a true example and encouragement for prayer. Daniel prays with fervor, intensity and faith, interceding for himself and for the whole nation. I confess the sins of his people to God and mention the promises made by God to his people.
In this chapter, Daniel is an old man. He was fourteen years old when he was taken into captivity, but now he is 82 years old. The old prophet can remember 68 years of courageous fidelity for the sake of the Lord. Many years have passed since Daniel left Jerusalem, but the faith of the ancient prophet is as vigorous as before. The tribulations did not weaken her. Promises and high social positions did not undermine his faith or seduce him to love other things than his God.
It is worth noting that Daniel was a great prophet and had extraordinary visions and revelations, but he never gave up the habit of praying and reading his Bible. On this occasion he examined the scrolls of the prophet Jeremiah. Throughout history, many people have used God's promises as an excuse to do nothing. We must strive to know the promises of God that we exercise our faith in prayer to the Lord who promised. For Daniel, the divine promise was a reason to engage in hard work of prayer and not an excuse for inactivity. He begged God to show his kindness to Jerusalem once again. Within a few months, Darius would no longer exist and Cyrus would be educated to proclaim that the Jews could return to their land.
Stuart Olyott, in his book "Dare to be firm," insists that we must pray continually, but we must pray according to the will of God. To pray according to the will of God is to discover in the Scriptures the promises of God and to pray that they be fulfilled: Has God promised that the Gospel will reach the ends of the earth? So let's pray for it - and it will!
Has God promised that when we sow His Word, it will not be useless for Him again? Yes yes Then let us pray and proclaim His Word, so that it will bear fruit in those who hear it, and it will happen!
God has promised that his Son will return in glory and great power! Yes, this is a very clear promise in His Word. So let us join the apostle John and pray: "Amen, come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev 22:20). We will not be disappointed!
Daniel's attitude was exactly the same. God had made a promise and this led the prophet to pray, praying that it would be fulfilled. And it happened!
Always pray a life of prayer. Pray all the time and take time to pray. Pray for a specific purpose and strive to know Jesus Christ and his promises more and more. Cry the favor of the Lord on you, your house, your church, your city, your nation and the nations.
Thank you for sharing this post, good examples are worthy of imitating and more in the work of the Lord.
