Episode One: SUNDEW

In the Australian bush country grows a little plant called "the sundew". It has a slender stem and tiny, round leaves fringed with hairs that glisten with bright drop of liquid as delicate as fine dew. Woe to the insect, however, that dares to dance on it. Although its attractive clusters of red, white, and pink blossom are harmless, the leaves are deadly. The shiny moisture on each leaf is sticky and will imprison any bug that touches it. As an insect struggles to free itself, the vibration causes the leaves to close tightly around it. This innocent looking plant then feeds on its victim.

The above illustration points the picture of the travails that befall human religious life. W we mostly attracted to beautiful things, especially things that appear beautiful and harmless on the outside. Unfortunately, many have found out to their eternal loss that all that glitters is not gold.

Devil is the master of deception, no wonder JESUS referred to him as the father of all lies (John 8:44). Even though the tree was forbidden, the devil made it look attractive to her by making it appear desirable. Satan attempts to make his trap attractive to you and convince you that there are no consequences for yielding to them. But there are grievous repercussions for falling for the devils ploys and yielding to sin.

First, when you yield to Satan's baits, you'll be separated from God. The same thing happened to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden when Satan deceived them to sin against God, Satan promised that they would become like God if they ate from the forbidden tree, but they ended up being separated from God, and losing the life and presence of God.

Yielding to Satan's enticements also also leads to guilt, shame and disgrace. Rather than becoming wise as Satan had promised them, they became naked and ashamed. They hid from the presence of God because they had lost the covering of his Holiness by giving in to Satan's inducements

NOTE: It is certain that the devil plants hidden danger along our spiritual path and we would need spiritually sensitive eyes to be able to detect and overcome them. Also temptations and satanic enticements are the common experience of every Religious man; no one is immune to them, but how you respond to them is what makes all the difference. Flee from them through the path called JESUS.
