steemchurch: THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The promise of the Holy Spirit is not only that; it is a reality for the believer who loves God; his presence gives forces and strengths to overcome adversities while we are on the earth; but more important: the seal of the Holy Spirit, walking in love, believing in Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 1:13) is the guarantee that one day we will be face to face before Jesus, of God, in the kingdom of God. Heavens. (1 John 3: 2)
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:18
When Jesus was on earth, he made a promise to his disciples, valid for all believers, and they would not be alone; we would not be orphans. The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus will come; but the Gospel of Matthew, puts it in the present, and says: and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. (Matthew 28:20) Jesus went to heaven, but he dwells in the heart of every believer.
In the moment that he had to ascend to heaven, after being resurrected, Jesus separated himself from his disciples, and the Bible says that they came giving signs of joy, that they were always in the temple worshiping and praising God. (John 24: 50-53) And because? But if Jesus was gone, should they be sad? But nevertheless they are full of joy.
The explanation is that he fulfilled the promise he had made to them: It is better for you to leave; because if I did not leave, the Comforter would not come to you; but if I leave, I will send it to you. (John 16: 7) Jesus was going to prepare a place so that wherever he is, his disciples are, and we, the believers, can also be there; and he will come again and I will take you to myself (John 14: 3). In other words, to understand that issue of who left, but it will come is simple: God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus went to be in the presence of the Father, to intercede for each one of us; but he sent the Holy Spirit, his Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, so that everyone who believes in him may not be alone on earth; let him know that God the Father, by the Holy Spirit, dwells in every heart that believes and accepts Jesus, his Son, as his Lord and Savior. And the presence of God, of Christ, of the Holy Spirit, gives us joy, instead of sadness. And we can feel God every time we humble ourselves and ask forgiveness for our faults. Although my father and mother would leave me, yet, Jehovah will pick me up
