Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

According to Jesus, as He is speaking with His inner circle, that there is something better than having the Master, Rabbi, Emmanuel, the Miracle Worker, Jesus Himself, sitting right in front of them.

“The best thing for you, is if I go away, because if I go away, I will send the Comforter to you” my paraphrase

Jesus was described by John the Baptist as the One Who would baptize with the Holy Spiirt and Fire.
Luk 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

People wrestle with the notion of the Holy Spirit as whether the Spirit is a force or something. But I believe the scriptures are clear that the Holy Spirit is a person and is God.

Act 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Act 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Here Peter equated lying to the Holy Spiirt to lying to God.

He is our Teacher

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

He brings back to rememberence everything Jesus said,.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

As we grow in Christ we must be careful to know God’s Word for ourselves as revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

The greatest investment is to purchase a Bible and greatest investment of your time is to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from Him. Compare absolutely everything you hear with the written Pwrd of God.

Jesus said The Holy Spiirt would be with us and in us.

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The Person of the Holy Spirit can be grieved.
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

It is the Holy Spirit that shines the Love of God abroad in our hearts.
Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The Holy Spirit is the One that gives us Power to Witness

Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

We are able to show the character of Christ in our lives because of the Holy Spirit
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Eph 5:10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

The Holy Spirit distributes gifts to the Body for edification

1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

This is one topic we could stay on for a very long time.

Now you are a Christian, find other believers to fellowship with.
Set aside some time everyday for prayer and prayerful study of God’s Word.
Let God’s Word be the Authority in your life and compare everything your hear with the written Word.
You will grow, you will mature and you will not be deceived.
