Dear church leaders, especially youths that are opportune to man one position or the other, maybe by virtue of lack of people, then you're remembered. Are you a church chairman, men's leader, women's leader, youth leader, church secretary or a Sunday school teacher? You might have been appointed, called, elected or even selected. Anyhow it is, a call to leadership is a call to serve, not a call to rule, dictate or command.
In the church settings today, we have mixed group of people; young and old, rich and poor, married and single, believers and unbelievers alike.

Respect, they say is reciprocal. You cannot command respect by reminding everybody of "what" or who you are every time. Respect is contagious, that is, you give regard to everyone notwithstanding your position, and in turn, no one will look at you with contempt. One important thing to note about humans is that, they either respect you because you're older than them, they respect you because of the office you're holding as a leader, they respect you because you're God's creation, or they respect you considering your marital status.

Becoming a church leader is not an avenue to insult every Tom and Dick in the church because you're trying to exercise your given authority.

You're a leader, yes, but there're fathers and mothers in that church. You're a leader, yes, but there're other leaders in that church. You're a leader, yes, there're also married people in that church. You're a leader, yes, but there're also those that are older than you age wise in that church, though ordinary floor members. So for your oil of leadership never to run dry in a hurry notwithstanding whether you're holding twenty different Ph.Ds, there's need to regard every breathing human created by God. By so doing, you won't create enemies for yourself. That quality too, will speak of you as a true leader, and not a ruler.

If there should be any reason for a member to leave your church to another, let it not be your leadership style that is sending him or her away. Use your position to edify, exhort and comfort others.

But one who prophesies, preaching the messages of God, is helping others grow in the Lord, encouraging and comforting them. 1Corinthians 14:3. [Living Bible]

This is all what we were called to do as God's ministers.
