If Jesus is on the ship, the storm does not matter

Happy weekend for all the brothers of the SteemChurch!

In today's reading, the disciples of Jesus despair before a storm on the Sea of Galilee.

"While they were sailing, he [Jesus] fell asleep, a strong gale came down on the lake, so that the ship was being flooded, and they were in great danger." The disciples went to wake him, crying out: "Master, Master, let's go die!' He got up and rebuked the wind and the violence of the waters, everything calmed down and remained calm. "Where is your faith," he asked his disciples.
(Luke 8: 23-25)

In this story, Jesus was impressed by the lack of faith of the disciples.

On another occasion, however, there was a man whose faith impressed Jesus. He was a centurion, whose servant was on the verge of death. The centurion ordered them to say to Jesus: "Lord, do not bother, because I do not deserve to receive you under my roof." Therefore, he did not consider me worthy to meet you, but say a word to him, and my servant will be healed. "(Luke 7.6.7)

Did you notice the difference? At sea, the disciples of Jesus were with him, but they waited for death. The centurion, on the other hand, neither met Jesus personally, but expected the miracle.

Maybe we have been like the disciples and we were desperate even when Jesus was on our "ship". Jesus, however, hopes to find in us the same faith that the centurion had and understand that Jesus has authority over all things and power to perform any miracle.

Men fight with all their might to control the boat, as they have done on other occasions. But this time the situation gets out of hand. Panicking, they approach Jesus and beg him: "Lord, save us! We are going to die! "(Matthew 8:25). The disciples are afraid of drowning.

When Jesus wakes up, he says: "Men of little faith, why are they so afraid?" (Matthew 8:26). Then, reprimand the wind and command the sea: "Silence! Shut up! "(Mark 4:39). Then the strong winds stop and the sea stays calm. (Both Mark and Luke record this impressive episode, first highlighting the miracle of Jesus and then the lack of faith of the disciples).

God bless you all greatly!
