Growth is given by God.
Today's text keeps us grounded and at the same time lifts our gaze to heaven. The apostle Paul tells us in other words: do not think yourselves better than you are because of the things you do, because ultimately, the one who gives life to all things is God.
God gives us the ability to decide, to sow, others can water, we can put all our strength, strategies, different investments, and everything else into it to make it grow, but the real result, which is growth, is only given by God.
We can work all the time doing good works and doing the best we think we do, but if God is not the one breathing life into those works, or if they are not inspired by Him, none of them will flourish, much less bear fruit. Therefore, we must always keep in mind that when something flourishes and bears fruit, it is because God has allowed it.
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but God who makes it grow.
