Some preachers out there and many believers say you can only serve God better if you are rich but is this really true?
To begin with, the story of the poor widow who only had 2 coins and dropped them as offering unto the Lord and the two rich men that passed and dropped so much yet Jesus Christ applauded the widow and said she gave the highest of all three. That tells us something right there. It was not about how much she gave but the heart and how she gave it. So right there it was her state of RIGHTEOUSNESS that counted not her money.
Secondly, look at the lives of the disciples, most of them were not rich men but when the Lord picked them, they had to leave behind the little that they had and follow him. Mathew who was a tax collector, a kind of rich line of work gave it up when he followed Christ. So again, we see that it was not about money or status.

Ironically, Jesus says it is easier for a horse to pass through a needle head than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. This means it is almost impossible for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God because instead whether we believe it or not it is rather difficult to fully commit and serve God as a rich man compared to the poor who depend solely on him.
So my conclusion is, this school of thought is FALSE because God has not called us to be rich or interested in our riches but he is rather so interested in us living righteously. So be content and serve your God with the little that you have.
Focus on him and he will grant you all the other things that you want (Matt 6:33).
