The Nation Whose God Is The Lord psalm 33:8-22
Let us examine from this text the nation whose God is the Lord. It is blessed. God Himself watches over its people and delivers then from death. He keeps them alive in famine and has an unfailing love towards them that fear Him. Conversely, the ungodly nations are unshielded. The Lord foils their plans and thwarts the plans of its people. So, which is Nigeria?
Many nations sometimes shy away from many Christian commitments on the grounds of avoiding violence and to be “politically correct.” The effects of such actions require thorough reconsideration. Many schools don't say the morning prayers again, they don't sing the Christian songs on the assembly grounds again, and Christian Religious Knowledge does not even have teachers in many of our schools!
It takes a courageous broadcaster to play a Christian music on the public radio-vision outfit; and when they do sometimes, it is with fear. If we shy away from God as a nation, will He not also shy away from us? The eternal word of God says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." (Psalms 33:12). Blessed is the nation whose God is not money or economic recovery or any such ideology but whose God is the Lord. Let's pray for Nigeria.
Prayer: Dear Lord, let your righteousness reign in Nigeria, make her a praise among the nations.

Unlike in ancient Isreal where God selected a particular nation, it is quite different now. God has chose the "spiritual Isreal" which is not defined by territorial boundaries. We can pray for individual countries, but we have to act towards our prayer too.
In a great accordance with you @jaff8 we all need to pray for individual countries
