Work your faith

Have you ever wondered why your faith seems to be strong at times and at other times it seems to be weak? Have you wondered how you could increase your faith?
Do you too often feel like you are doing religion instead of living out an abundant relationship with Jesus? If you tend to fall into legalism, busyness, or burn out, your faith just may be “inside-out!

We must learn how to be practical with our faith, how to practically apply Biblical wisdom to our lives, we looked at this Great Commandment:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)

Be practical with your faith because the Bible says:

James 3:13 “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.”

Galatians 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

The faith of our Lord Jesus Christ is practical; therefore it is practicable. It is not vague, neither is it vain. It is not void of a practical expression of God that is visible or evident. Yes, God is a Spirit, yet He can express Himself in visible forms or dimensions. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen as yet. Faith therefore expresses itself in visible forms to give expression to invisible realities. Those four men that carried their friend, who was sick with the palsy to Jesus in Mark 2:1-12, the Word tells us that Jesus saw their faith. The substance of their faith was invisible, but the expression of it was visible such that Jesus saw it; He saw their faith. Hallelujah! Beloved, be not deceived, Bible faith is practical and practicable; it always has an expression in visible forms of the invisible realities of God’s light or faith.

Beloved, be practical with your faith. Let your life reflect the reality that Jesus indeed came in the flesh. It is important to have the knowledge of what Jesus has done

by His coming, but even more importantly, you must have practical wisdom to help you walk in the light of the Word. For example, it is one thing to know that water quenches thirst; it is another thing to go get water when you are thirsty, and drink it, and have your thirst quenched. Knowledge is good, but it’s not enough. Until knowledge becomes understanding and practical wisdom in you, you don’t know as you ought to. That’s exactly what James 3:13 is communicating to us that it is only by works of wisdom that we show wisdom.

God wants us to reveal Him. He doesn’t just want us to tell the world that Jesus came; He wants us to reveal Jesus to the world in practical terms. This means that you shouldn’t just believe in prosperity, you ought to live out prosperity. You shouldn’t just believe in righteousness, you ought to walk in it. Galatians 5:25 says “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

We have all what it takes to walk in it, We should realise that God has already “given us all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3) and all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). But the effective receiving depends on our faith. Faith is confident of the faithfulness of God in His declared promises and talks and acts so, even before the natural eye sees.

Faith is important because all that GOD has is available to those who have faith. Today, I read a quote that sums up the relationship between JESUS and us. “ Peter of Damaskos says, to love GOD with all your soul means (that our) desire should long constantly and entirely … for GOD alone and never for anything else”. By faith, we are able to please GOD, when He is pleased, He blesses with an outpouring of His love.

To summarize, faith is trust, assurance and confidence in God and Jesus Christ. Living faith is not just believing that God exists. It is demonstrated by one’s service and obedience to God. God will increase our faith if we fervently ask Him for it and seek to draw closer to Him in prayer and the reading of His Word.
