There is nothing more important than the word of God. The word of God is the manual for life that is able to lead us to the right path in serving the Lord.

It is not just like any other book but the one which is divinely inspired by God and contains the power of God.

The word carries power and always performs what it says. Whoever believes the word and work with the word always come with a result.

Many people see the word of God to be an ordinary book and that is why they have never profited from it.

The word of God must be prioritized over everything that is dear to us. The word must be the first thing to consider before anything else.

The story told about the two sisters, Mary and Martha shows us how important it is to attend to the instructions of the Lord Jesus than to be engaged in the affairs of the world.

Mary's focus was on the word whiles Martha's focus was on preparing food for the distinguished guest:

Now as they were traveling along, Jesus went into a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat down at the Lord’s feet and kept listening to what he was saying. But Martha was worrying about all the things she had to do, so she came to him and asked, “Lord, you do care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself, don’t you? Then tell her to help me.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things. But there’s only one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better, and it is not to be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42

Martha busied herself preparing meal and determined to provide the best possible hospitality for their distinguished guest.

Jesus had always prioritized the word of God over everything and so was always interested in spiritual food for our spirit and not for our body.

For If we live for the flesh we will die but if we live for the spirit we will have life and peace. This is the very reason why God wants to focus more on spiritual food(the word of God) than the physical food.

Mary understood how important it is for us to feed her spirit first before her body, and as a result she benefited from the Lord’s instructive conversation. Spiritual food for the spirit is more important than any other food, feed on the word first.
