MANIFESTING OUR AUTHORITY BY KNOWING OUR IDENTITY IN RELATION TO GOD.
A blessed sunday to all steemians and greetings to all members of #steemchurch. Today i will be speaking on the topic, 'MANIFESTING OUR AUTHORITY BY KNOWING OUR IDENTITY IN RELATION TO GOD'.
Many persons find it so difficult to believe fully in Christ simply because they find the miracles done in the bible as outrageous and unbelievable. The fact is that with God anything is possible, and as children of God we are not far away from the level of God.
A simple question seperates man from his true potential as a child of God. This question is 'WHO ARE YOU?', This question may seem simple enough but in reality it is not. Who you are is not your name, or your occupation, or your family, or your place in society. When you are able to answer this question as to who you are in relation to God, then and only then would you have understood your 'IDENTITY'.
In the Gospel of Mark 4: 40, after calming the storm that had nearly capsized their boat, he turned to his disciples and made them question their identities. It reads thus, "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Why are you frightened? Have you no faith"". This simply goes to show that indeed the disciples also had the power to calm the storm of only they realised the power they possessed.
Matthew 15: 21-28, entails a wonderful story, please take time to read it up for yourselves. A canaanite woman had approached Jesus on behalf of her daughter who was possessed, initially Jesus had driven her away with the excuse, "i have been sent only to the lost sheep of the people of israel", and when she begged further he told her, "It isn't right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs.", but again the woman countered this saying, "even the dogs eat the leftovers that fall from the masters table", and in the end she got her miracle. In essence she knew her position hence her 'IDENTITY' and Jesus fulfilled her request.
And if after reading this you still doubt then remember the story of the fig tree that Jesus cursed. When his disciples were astonished, he told them in Matthew 21: 21-22, "i assure you that if you believe and do not doubt, you will be able to do what i have done to this fig tree. And not only this, but you will be able to say to this hill, 'Get up and throw yourself in the sea', and it will. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer".
So today i task everyone of you. Take about fifteen minutes of your time and reflect on the question, 'who are you?', when you find this answer you will truly be better and get far closer to God. Once more have a blessed day.
Baelish.
