LIVING THE LIFE THAT PLEASES GOD.

With the abundance of things Almighty God does; the mercy he shows, the blessings he showers on us, basic things he provide us with, satisfies our desires, subdue our problems, heals us in time of sickness, provides for us in time of needs, forgives our sins, shield us from various dangers, embrace us when we are forsaken, shows us love when hated, bless us when we are cursed by people and all sorts of things he does, even when we don't deserve it; the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat...
How then do we pay him back for all these wonderful things?
By doing what we are pleased with?
Like the bad thoughts we have against one another, our wickedness, the bad attitudes we displayed within our house, vicinity, community, society or nation?
Let me seize this moment of your time and ask this question from you;
Have you ever thought of who is doing all these wonderful things for you? Yes someone is really behind all these; whom I call GOD.

HOW THEN DO YOU LIVE THE LIFE THAT PLEASES HIM?

By following his ten(10) commandments which are explained in the SECOND book of the Bible, Exodus 20.
In the verse 1 of the book, he says; >I am the Lord your God. I led you out of the land of Egypt where you were slaves. So you must obey these commandments;

You must NOT worship any other gods except me.

God is a very jealous being and he must be satisfied with all He demands for. It is never possible to serve two different masters at the same time

You must NOT make any idols nor statues nor pictures of anything in the sky, earth or in the water.

We should should never worship any kind of idols because He is our GOD. However, reasons not to do this was given in the Holy bible; He said; "I hate my people worshipping other gods. People who sin against me becomes my enemies and I will punish them, their children, their grandchildren, and even their great-grandchildren. But I will be very kind to people who love me and obey my commands. I will be kind to their families for thousands of generation!"

I do know the God I serve to be a very merciful God and always keeps to his promises as long as we do all he wants, he will surely bless us.

You must NOT use the name of the lord your God in a wrong way.

Come to think of it that in a society where you live, you are such an influential person with a good name. Someone from no where now come to that society with no any other mission than to soil the name or reputation by telling people all sort of bad things about you.
I strongly believe no one will take that! You might even punish such person.
Why then do we tarnish God's image by using His holy name wrongly?

He went further by saying;* Such a person is guilty and the Lord will not make him innocent.

You MUST remember to keep the Sabbath day holy.

**The Sabbath day is a special day and must be treated and seen as ONE. God command us to work at our job six days in a week and the last day, which is the seventh day is a day of rest in honor of the Lord our God

In Exodus 20 vs 10; >He says on that day no person should work- NOT you, your sons and daughters, or your men and women slaves. Even your animals and the foreigners living in your city must not work!

A reason for this was also given; when God wanted to created heaven and earth and everything there in, He only did that for six good days and nothing more. He then took a rest in the seventh day. God only wants us to emulate him and not any other person, since NO ONE is above Him!

You MUST honour your father and your mother;

HONOUR means recognition of importance and spiritual value (respect). If you don't honour your parents, how then do you want to have a full life in the land that the Lord your God gives you. The book of Proverb also says something important about honouring our parents. Our parents here could mean biological parents or anyone that is older than us, No matter the age difference!!!

You must NOT murder anyone.

** Killing a fellow is even a sin punishable under the law of many country. Now the Lord our God says it! Which means if you kill, you won't be punished only by humans but also by God.**

You must NOT commit Adultery.

Lewdness or unchastity, which could be of our thought as well as act forbidden by the 7th commandment.

You must NOT steal

Stealing in the society has become something very rampant among the people. Imagine a child right from his/her tender age steals and the parents of such child fails to chastise him/her for such habit. He/she might not know it is a sin until when corrected. If parents fails to d their part, they also will be part of the child misdeeds.

You must NOT tell lies about other people.

Telling lies is now a common thing in the society forgetting the fact that the Lord actually detests it.

You must not want to take anything that belongs to your neighbour, be it his wife, house.

IF ONLY WE COULD KEEP TO THESE COMMANDMENTS, THEN WE CAN BOAST OF LIVING THE LIFE THAT PLEASES GOD.
