Food can be seen or defined as any substance that people or animal eat ,It can also Be defined as a substance plants absorb,to maintain life and growth.
Food can also be defined as a specific or particular substance that people or animal eat to gain strength in life.

*Yam etc

Classification of Food
*Carbohydrate
*Protein
*Fat and Oil
*Mineral salt
*Water
*Vitamins.

PROTEIN:
Protein is a natural substance found in meat,eggs,fish and some vegetables that humans and animals eat to help them grow and stay healthy.

CARBOHYDRATE:A substance such as sugar or starch that consists of carbon.
Eg.Bread , potatoes,rice etc.

WATER:
This is a liquid that we take in to quench our taste.

VITAMINS:
This is a natural substance found in food,that is an essential part of what humans and animals need to eat to help them grow.

FUNCTIONS OF FOOD
*It helps in giving growth to humans and animals body.
*It gives strength to the human body.
*It gives nutrition to the human body.

REASONS WHY WE MUST EAT FOOD
*To gain strength
*For growth
*To fight against sickness

IMPORTANCE OF FOOD
*Food helps in the growth of the body.
*You gain strength to work and achieve goals from food.
*Food helps to fight against any form of sickness.
In the basis of food, there is what we call "Balanced Diet", which means the combination of the six classes of food.
Balanced Diet also means the taking in of food in a well and orderly manner.
In the way whereby carbohydrate performs it's function of energy giving, protein also performs it's function of healthy living, balanced diet gives the resultof the functions of the six classes of food in unity.
Balanced Diet is necessarily required as it gives the best healthy life results ever.
