What is the relationship of steem power, steem dollars and steem?

When you post any content or curate any content, you earn steam dollars as well as steam power. You have to hold on to the steam power for two years. But you can convert steam dollars to steem which in turn can be converted to steam power through a process called powering down. This is what I have understood in my first 2 days.
That means I can convert steem power to steem after I hold steem power for two year, right?
