Crossing Equipment in the Interior of North Aceh
Gampong Buket Makarti: The easy requirements for getting motorbike credit have made many people lazy to walk. People tend to use motorbikes or electric bikes, both for long and short distances. Even though they already have motorized vehicles, those who live around the interior of North Aceh still choose to use getek boats to cross.
This is done rather than going up the bridge because the route is winding. Although it seems very simple and old-fashioned, getek boats are quite effective in cutting travel time for their users.
Getek boats are traditional transportation that have been around for several years. This can be found in areas that geographically have rivers.
Its shape has also undergone many modifications, from being made of bamboo to now being made of wood using oil buckets. Getek boats can accommodate at least 4 motorbikes and 4 pedestrians at once.
The lack of bridge construction in the area makes getek boats a common choice for them to cross. People are still very comfortable using getek boats as an alternative way to travel because the price is affordable.
In addition, it can save time and energy rather than having to go around to find the nearest bridge.
"I prefer to pay Rp10,000 to ride a getek, rather than wasting 40 minutes if I cross the bridge," said a teacher in Gampong Buket Makarti, Tanah Luas District, North Aceh. November 11, 2024.
By using getek boat transportation, a person only needs 5 minutes to be able to cross. At certain points, there are already simple docks as places for getek boats to dock, easy to reach and on standby 24 hours.
Getek boats are proof of a means of transportation that has not been eroded by modernization, a portrait of simplicity and loyalty is clearly depicted in every activity. In the future, if bridge construction begins to spread to remote areas evenly, will these boats continue to be sidelined and then die or turn into a tourist attraction that will continue to be sustainable.
