Time to get serious and pick up Steem!
The fact that users on Steemit get ranked according to an aquatic theme certainly is fitting.
As a tiny Minnow or in my case a plancton being filtered through the baleens of one of this blockchain ocean's many whales it is easy to feel overwhelmed and unimportant.
While I've been trying to figure out my place here I've mainly been posting pictures and participating in photocontests. I am very much an amateur photographer but I enjoy taking pictures and will certainly keep posting the one's I'm happy with.
While even these posts have managed to earn me a few point of SP I have come to realize that to see any real growth and increased rewards I need to create more ambitious content - and lots of it!
So going forward this is my plan for having greater sucess on steemit and hopefully also contributing to the platform. Call it a planktons manifesto if you will.

1. Keep doing what you do!
I've had some success with a few of my photos such as this one that won in @Juliank photocontest a while back. I got my Eos M3 a year ago and have greatly enjoyed learning the very basic photography skills I have picked up.
I will keep posting lots of pictures and if any more experienced photographer have run across them I'd love some tips on how to improve.
2. Broaden my horizon
That being said I have to branch out and produce other forms of content as well. I have a blog over at the Vagrant One as well as a YouTube Channel and an Instagram all of which I have been neglecting for some time. By writing posts and recording videos that can also be used here on Steemit I hope to get the itch to create more on all platforms.
If you do enjoy any of my content here feel free to follow or subscribe on my other accounts, it would be greatly appreciated!
One project that I started on earlier this year was trying to create a series of beer revies of all Filipino beers I can find. The mainstream San Miguel ones as well the new crop of craft brews which have gotten very little attention outside this country.
3. Build my Income
I have no illusion of making much money on this platform at the moment. Steem is low and my top posts are only making a dollar or so and that is when I'm lucky to have the benevolent Filipino overlord @surpassinggoogle drop by with his trail of upvoters.
That being said I hope I can bring in a few dollars here and there and that together with whatever scraps I can bring together elsewhere might make me able to devote more time to content creation rather than soul crushing freelance writing I currently support myself with on Upwork.
To start building my income I have gotten my first share of @steembasicincome which is a project where you can support other content creators you like while also getting a small upvote for yourself. I got a share for @jlordc a Filipino steemian that writes very informative posts about many aspects of steemit and the steem blockchain that I have found very informative.
In the future I might very well get more shares in the program and I'm thinking about having a competition for the shares of SBI I'll buy once I gather up some steem.
I am also looking at joining @qurator once I feel I have enough longer quality posts under my belt.
4. Keep building Bridges
With my SP curation rewards are minimal. That being said I feel it is very profitable for me to upvote, read and engage with other peoples content. Both because you can actually learn something and because by supporting others occasionally they actually take the time to support you.
I have added a few users to my autoupvote on steemauto because I like and support their content. I do try to at least browse everything I autoupvote. However I need to get back to also reading random posts by new users and commenting on those. This is mainly in the strong Filipino community and among the few other Filipino expats that have found their way onto Steemit.
Currently I have 278 followers but I am aware that like everyone else my followers are mostly bots and junk/spam accounts. I hope to get more followers that actually like and follow what I do.
Nothing revolutionary in here I know, but it's a start.
Let's hunker down and do this Steem thing for real!
Hey thanks for the mention and for the SBI share, I honestly didn't expect that one. XD
I do agree with this. I personally do take the time to check people who are active on my blogs and support them in return irregardless of SP. I started as a tiny plankton so I know how it feels when you are only getting less than a dollar after posting a somewhat decent quality post.
My power isn't worth much atm but I will try to support people like you who are in here for the long run as much as I can. :)
Good Luck in joining @qurator!
No Problem,
It's my way of giving a small recurring tip while also building my own income. Going to buy a few more shares to other users I want to support shortly.
