Supporting Developer-Witnesses

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

I've recently made the decision to focus primarily on supporting development oriented Witnesses with my Witness-Approval.

I believe that developers are crucial for the success of Steem. Without them, we wouldn't have a blockchain in the first place - in addition to all these great apps on top of it (dtube, dlive, utopian etc.) and I'm not even talking about the possibilities through SMTs.

Additionally, while Steem has its strengths - other blockchain projects like EOS, NEO, Nano, Ethereum & the whole blockchain-sphere are developing so fast, that Steem needs constant improvement.

We do have a motivated and skilled team with Steemt Inc. who is - as @andrarchy explained it recently: working 'round the clock.

But I also believe that Witnesses have a great incentive to be valuable contributing developers for Steem as they get rewarded with Steempower for running a witness-node - and depending on how valuable their input is for Steem: the more votes they will receive. (technically)

Smartsteem Proxy

I've also decided to use @therealwolf as a voting-proxy for @smartsteem. So in total I currently have a voting-strength of 45k SP to support my fellow development oriented witnesses.

You can of course also choose me as a witness-proxy (https://steemit.com/~witnesses) and I'll make sure to vote on witnesses to the best of my knowledge & belief .

Witness List

I currently vote for 26 Witnesses - of which roughly 80-85% are developers.

@therealwolf, thanks for including me in the list. The devs in the list are all great and those who I quite respect. I totally agree that witness voting is the best way to motivate the developers do make Steem community better, and it will eventually encourage the devs to compete each other in a pragmatic way. The ultimate benefit of doing this will be a influx of top level devs into Steem community. We do have devs around here but the more the better.

This is the easiest way to stimulate our dev community that can be done by all the witnesses including backup witnesses. Thanks for your great support!

@mahdiyari He is a great witness, I would love to consider it on your list if possible, greetings and thanks for helping witnesses who give contribution to be better every day Steem

You are correct vida. Voted for him as witness!

Hey @therealwolf
Amazing to see your decision in supporting the wonderful Steem developers.

The Utopian witness supports the development of Open Source projects and Steem based applications. Consider our witness as well!

Vote for Utopian Witness!

Removed my vote initially due to the uncertainty of who runs the witness - but it seems that everything is back on track again. Added my vote again!

Just cleaned up some older votes and gave it to you as well @therealwolf. You truly deserve it!

For which thing? His bid bot or his wallet spam messaging app?

For having supported utopian and its development from the start, that would be a reason for me. On top of that he is always supportive with anyone who ever asked. That's my experience.

Fair enough. i was like your fourth or fifth delegator, but when you got the 2M dele, I figured I was better off keeping my piddly 200 :) Glad you've done so well for the platform. Be well.

Thanks @sircork. I do remember that. Keep up the good work. I follow you often.

Thank you very much @elear!

Thank you elear! Very much appreciate that!

@yensesa is a great development focused witness that is building a platform for Afton users to cash out with mobile money. They vare also working on a basic income program.

mobile money

I think customer service is also important. With the current apps it seems like steem could become a $100 billion platform if not more. Personally I feel like our user retention should be half as bad as it currently is and the value of steem should be about 100% higher if not more.
Overall I am VERY impressed with the steem developers but disappointed in our customer service. I have been trying to help and share my new knowledge about the payout threshold and the new @dustsweeper solution. It does look like it's vote power is draining. Perhaps you or one of the other witnesses could help it out?

@therealwolf
You forgot @good-karma, the developer of eSteem app.
He is one of the top witnesses and is currently supporting more than 2k users daily posting through eSteem app.

I didn't forget him - this list is simply the witness I vote and I didn't vote for good-karma as he is very stable in the top 5.

I think it would be interesting if you list your choices and explain in 1-2 sentences why you vote for them ;)

It would've been great if you either listed your witness votes (like @theaustrianguy already said) or if you included at least a link for looking into your witness votes easily. If someone is rather new, he might not know the tools for looking into someones witness votes. And the ones who know them all, wouldn't have to search you up by themselves. ;)

Updated the post! :)

Reloading the page sometimes helps xD
Sorry for the kinda useless comment ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No - it wasn't useless; very valid. Just took some time until I created the list.

It certainly makes sense to support a good share of witnesses who develop solid and useful applications for use on the Steem Blockchain.

I would say my 'developer' selections account for 25%/30% of the votes I have in place.

The remaining 2/3rd are split between witnesses who promote the the blockchain and steemit, outside of the network, and those working within the network to encourage engagement and retention.

Please check out @yensesa too. It’s a witness that falls under the developer category.
