Why steemit, bitcoin, and other decentralized platforms are worth billions by Dr. Chris Kacher

Decentalized blockchain technologies such as http://stemmit.com truly empower the individual, not just with a voice but with monetary rewards. It's been around since spring 2016, and I joined in the summer 2016 though took a long break from contributing until recently.

It's the first decentralized publishing platform. It's value has skyrocketed from about $20 mil a year ago to about $275 mil today. Its value is derived from the network effect. The more people who join, the more valuable the platform.
This is why facebook and twitter are worth billions. Digital copy cats are worth very little by comparison.

This is why bitcoin is worth about $65 billion. It allows for instant transfer of funds in a safe, secure manner without middle men. No banks. It also represents a store of value. Apps can easily remove the volatility of bitcoin by pegging it to the dollar once a person is in possession of it.

And for those who claim digital is worthless because it can be infinitely replicated, explain why the multi-player video game market values the sum total of digitally-based game items in the billions of dollars now. An item in Diablo 3 sold for $16,000 last year.
