RE: Cheetah helpful or a way for people to centralize the decentralized steem block-chain?

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

Cheetah needs to be reworked. I seen it comment on a few post that it shouldn't have. Both on some of my articles and others.

I do allot of articles on new cryptocurrencies and ICO / bounty campaigns where you need to copy and paste certain things directly from the site while adding some fresh content. I usually get flagged by cheetah in those blogs. If you are quoting a web page and include the url to that web page then cheetah shouldn't be flagging your content imo.

cheetah should not be a bot at a first place. This should be done by a person (if needed) that can recognize a plagiarism content from content where the author made sure to work the article and make it presentable. A stupid cheetah bot would have no idea how much work goes into formatting an article, making your research, finding something useful to put, appropriate pictures to make it look eye pleasing and not just a line of wall and basically just because you share what somebody else have already wrote, doesn't mean presentation does not matter

There is nothing to re-work. Cheetah works just fine. There are occasional errors as she is 99.95% accurate.
She processes up to 2000 of comments each day so the margin of error is minimal.
She is also very expensive bot that costs about $300 per day to run. anyx pays up a lot from his own pocket to keep it running (cheetah blog doesn't earn enough to pay for this service) .

All she does is detecting similar content. There is no harm from being commented by cheetah.

There is harm because allot view a comment from cheetah as a negative thing. They see cheetah has commented and they simply by pass your article. On the other hand, if cheetah didn't comment you may have got a comment / upvote / resteem from the originally interested party.

There are also free restreem services on here that will exclude your article from being resteemed if cheetah has commented on your article.

The Cheetah bot also says it upvoted you when sometimes it doesn't.

For example .. If I am doing an article on a new crypto ICO / Bounty project, there are certain things I would need to copy directly from the site such as rules to each Bounty. Cheetah will flag such articles.

It will not flag such articles as long as you follow our advices on how to properly quote.

Unfortunately, we cannot help the ignorance of many users who are clueless about cheetah bot and make their own opinions about it, like as seeing it as something negative.

well let him save his money or invest them in something cause cheetah is anything but fine. I haven't seen it cleaning the space, on the contrary. Post where people spent hours to create are demonetized in a blink, while garbage as the posted above is not moderated in any way and is flooding the platform. Comparing my Appics article that was demonetized and the pizza article I bet that 99% of users will have more value in mine. It doesn't matter where I get the info from, I compiled it and presented it in a way that is presentable and gives all the information needed. I have put the effort to the the research, I have put the time to make it look good, I have put the time to market it, well I guess investing efforts is the wrong way of doing it on steemit and honestly, I see tit like 300 dollars down the drain everyday for zero contribution and when there is some, it's mostly negative as it drives people to stop creating content but making low quality articles and just paying the bots to double their money
