Weekly report: How much STEEM is stored on the exchanges? - January 24, 2019

in #steem6 years ago

Bithumb is back in the Steem business. Since the announcement of Bithumb there's a lot of activity on both of the Korean exchanges, Bithumb and Upbit.

On January 21 there was one huge transfer of 8.8 million STEEM from @bittrex to @upbitsteemhot. One transfer worth 3.5 million US Dollar.

The charts below show how much STEEM is stored on each exchange where STEEM is listed.

Rule #1 in the crypto world: Don't store your cryptocurrencies on an exchange!

that is the number which scares me

  1. Those people storing their steem on exchanges I would hope would know better and store it on their own wallets instead or perhaps within steemit!
  2. It really starts to spell a massive dump is on the horizon as the amount just keeps climbing.

As expected, most transfer to Korea for some arbitrage! I wonder if they will remain in those exchange wallets as they must have learned by now that exchanges can freeze transfers without notice! Thanks for the update!

Now that deal it done, I’m waiting for the massive dump.

Ned will get a higher price if he dumps his stakes at Upbit and Bitthumb! Steem price is on the way to 0.08-0.1 again soon! We will see more of those, remember that steemit accs been full powering down.

Thank you 🙏! Love this statistics !.
How would you interpret the difference between Binance and bittrex for example?
Upbit just started trading Steem?

Is that just a impression or the quantity of steem in the exchanges decreases ?

8.8 millon steem i wonder who that is?

@ned transfer to bittrex last 3 months 3.3 million steem

@steemit transfer to bittrex 3 million

@steemit2 through @gsr-io 800k

@steemit2 through @alpha aka @blocktrades 3.7 million

so 9.6 million STEEM altogether withdrawn to bittrex via multiple sources within 3 months

i imagine they moved to bithumb due to acceptance of shady practices @bittrex and @poloniex will freeze coins for withdrawal and deposit if they see high holders are manipulating markets

I very much doubt that considering the people who were washtrading BCH on bithumb were arrested.

pretty sure no one was arrested for washtrading on @bithumb and when presented the evidence they denied it was happening at all.

which was funny considering 95% of daily trading volume was happening within a few minutes around 11 am

also in September bithumb had $350 million daily volume and by November was $11 billion over 12 times volume

You're right, the article I found was about upbit apparently.

dodgy exchanges are easily confused
